cleaning cookers

ok this has to be the worst job ever, I was busy cleaning mine the other day and my neighbour popped in for a chat, she commented that it would come up like brand new if i used elbow grease on it, well i've scoured the shops and cant find this at all, in fact i was getting some wierd looks when i asked for it. Does anyone know where i can get it from and is it expensive? i'm in the UK
