I am 26 years old, my daughter is 8. A few weeks ago she looked at me and said "So mom did they have McDonalds and malls and stuff in the olden days, you know when you were a kid?" LOL, First I just looked at her, then i said of course they did, how old do you think I am?lol. It's funny though i can remember when I was little i always though everyone over 20 was old..lol..not anymore..

Yeah, I know exactly what your saying. My four year old asks me those questions all the time. I'm only 28 and she wanted to know if they had cartoons back in my days.LOL. They must think we are ancient!

hi amydawn, the most recent thing that came from her mouth, though cute has left me somewhat curious....lol.. she has recently started to tell me that when my son gets big that then i will be happy because then i will have a boy and a girl. See now, i'm not real sure just what she thinks her brother is right now...

LOL, that's cute.Maybe you should ask her why she says that, maybe she thinks they only really turn into boys when they are older.. too cute though, kids really do say things that just make think.

Hahaha, yea I said that to my parents when I was little :). Except I didn't say "in the olden days", I said: "Did you have McDonald's when you were little?" I think it's cute when we do stuff like that as little kids, right? I don't think anyone is old, you are as old as you feel.

It is really cute and it usually makes you smile or laugh and there's nothing wrong with either of them :) Age is nothing but a number and you are right you are only as old as you feel, that's for sure..thanks:)

Haha too cute but so true !! My children ask questions like this all the time and it reminds me of when I was younger and I used to make comments like this to my parents . I remember back then how old they seemed but now that I am older I no longer find someone older then me old .
It is interesting how with age our thoughts change as well and how we looked at things when we were younger are no longer the same .
My pre teen daughter came home one day and asked me what I wore when I was a child and when I asked her why she said because they were having a fun day at school and were dressing up like people from the old days and she was hoping I still had some of my old clothes left so she would look the best . Well talk about making one feel old lol . When I told her that we dressed pretty much the same and maybe she should check with her grandparents or something she told me that they were not old enough , she needed to know what I wore :)

Hey, Idid the same thing , n even do the same thing now. I always have questions about life when my Parents were young. I m very inquisitive. when i was in school, My teacher once complained my mom that i always ask the Why question. But I love to reason out on stuff, instead of blindly believing them.

It's always good to ask lots of questions. I just wish she wouldn't make me feel old while doing it..lol..I gladly answer her questions whenever she has one.

When my daughter was about 4, we stayed with my grandma for a while as i was a single mom for a while. My great uncle used to come visit, and loved my daughter. Sometimes he would bring her candy or give her money. One day he came and my daughter asked him if she could have some money. My grandma said, "Maria! You don't ask people for money!"She asked, "Well, how else am i going to get it?" Had my cousins laughing for weeks! ...
As about your daughter and her comment,i have to say that my own daughter ask me"mom, when you was young"...what the hell...i have just 33!!rolling my eyes...

Yes my older boy who is 9 now asked me about birthday cakes when I was a boy, if we had real cream on them lol! He couldn't believe me when I started to tell him the price of food back when I was a boy/teenager, a bag of mixed lollies (or candy as Americans call it) was 20 cents instead of $1.20 it costs now!

I'm glad my daughter isn't old enough to think about those questions yet.
That is quite cute. Next time take her by a McDonalds that says serving billions since....(whatever date it is) and tell her you were born way after that. :)

That's classic!
My daughter's only 10 months old now so i don't have to worry about that for a while but i do remember asking my parents some very similar questions to that - mind you, when my parents were young, Australia was still under the same currency as the UK with the pound, pence, shilling & stuff - i think it was the UK that had it - correct me if i'm wrong!
It was always cool to hear how cheaps things were - i remember my Mum telling me when she was a teenager how she used to get $15 a week at work & how it was really good money! It just seems so odd coz we all know now that $15 - whether it be my currency or yours, wont go very far at all these days!

lol yes that is very true. I can remember my grandpa saying, when i was a young boy I had to walk 5 miles in the snow to get to school every morning and when I was young you could buy a bag of chips, a pop and a chocolate bar all for 10 cents lol..It's too funny

Wow, that's funny. My son is only two, so i'm looking forward to those common sense questions. Its funny the things that kids just think, they are always having something funny going on in they're mind. Oh what bliss it would be to have a care free mind like a child again. My teacher in high school used to tell me that children see in technicolor, and if you can keep that vision you are a child at heart forever. I wonder if any of us still see things in technicolor, appreciating life as a child would?

They are funny.I wish i could be carefree again but with so much stress in adult life it almost feels impossible, plus i am a worrier so that doesn't help.

Kids are too funny!
I bought a new sweater that shows a little cleavage and I had put it on one day and my 9 year old son came in, looked at me and said in a stern voice "Mom, you can't wear that shirt... people will see your udders!"
I laughed so hard that I tears running down my face.
