The day after I posted this I had a girl come to scouts that smelled. I had talked to her grandmother right before the meeting, and she told me she was in the shower. Her hair was still wet when she got there, but she still smelled. I had a talk with her, in front of her mother about washing better, with soap and using deodorant. I hated to have to do it, but if she doesn't learn know she will be one of those kids that has no friends because she smells bad.

awwww, well I am glad you said something because that is true, she will end up being made fun of and have no friends and that would be harder for her than having to hear that she smells and needs to wash better. You did the right thing :)

Lol it depends how well I knew the person. If I was comfortable with them I would tell them. On the other hand if it was someone I didn't know or barely knew, I would probably be too shy to say something, even though I'm sure they would appreciate being told! Lol that story about your boyfriend is funny. Guys can be so weird sometimes, but then again, so can girls. :)

I would say something as I am like you and would prefer if someone told me as I would tell someone if I saw something because , like you said it can be embarassing . We can't see what we look like unless we go look in the mirror but anyone around can see what we look like and no one wants to think that they are being laughed at or turned away from because of something everyone was too afraid to say . It would be better to tell someone what was wrong and let them fix the problem then to go around with them all day and not want to look at them because there was something hanging from their teeth , nose , mouth or whereever :)

very true. It is more embarrassing for the person who has something on there face than it would be for the person who saw it to just tell them. thank you :)

Hi amydawn,
Yes, I would tell someone if they had a piece of food stuck in their teeth or if they were "flying low". True, it could be embarassing for them, but I think they'd be more embarassed if you didn't say anything at all. Then a bunch more people would see it too and that is way more embarassing lol.

That is so funny, I would've been so mad. Even if I didn't want to say anything I would have to or you would know something wasn't right anyway. My eyeballs would fix right on the problem so in the end i would tell you.

lol, that is true people tend to stare right at what you have on your face or in your teeth and I think most times the person realizes that you are looking at something and then if you didn't tell them , when they realized what it was they would be even more embarrassed.

Yes, for that reason. To not tell someone, and be aware of something like that, is to contribute to their embarrassment, and make it worse. It's a pretty unfriendly thing NOT to do.
I've been in that situation a couple of times. Maybe it's me, but the people who could have told me didn't say a word, and my possible reaction might have been a good reason for not saying anything, being the enchanting, werewolf-like ray of sunshine that I am, but it definitely didn't make me any friendlier.
Really, whether someone likes it or not, you're at least doing the right thing by trying to prevent their embarrassment. There's not a lot of excuses for the say-nothing approach.
One thing- bfs do have other things on their minds, sometimes. If it was only for a short period of time, after a meal, maybe he was just being a typical bf, not noticing something he should. I've (eventually) figured out for myself how tough females can be on themselves about their appearance, but we tend to look at it differently.

Honestly, it depends on what kind of mood I'm in. Sometimes if I'm feeling a little squirelly I'll just let that stuff go because in some sick way I find it funny. But usually I do tell, even if it takes me a little while.

Hello, amydawn,if you get something in your teeth and i can see it,i will of course tell you so that you can go to the bathroom to clean it. I can understand how embarrasing you were at that time, it might be better to whisper to you so that not everyone know you get something stuck in your teeth, also it may be important to make sure there is nothing 'left over'in your teeth after you have eaten something to prevent this embarassing situation to arise.

Little did I know until I got home that I had mud on my face, how embarrassing and the person didn't even tell me..lol...see so many people just don't say anything..lol

I would definitely tell the person. I would try and wait until no one else was around and tell them subtly, but I would tell them. I would expect others to do that for me as well!
