I was curious for those who suffer from depression do you find that PMS really makes it worse? Do you just want to hide away or do you cry at every little thing? I have trouble watching commercials sometimes with it because I will get teary eyed. Let alone the news or even some posts on here. We can forget tear jerker movies, I'm bawling like an idiot with those. I do have a tendency to sleep a lot more during it to. Just seems like everything is exaggerated. Do you get that way as well?

I am a bit old for PMS but I do get upset a lot easier now than I used to do m, I cry at the least thing , I am very emotional , I cry when I read other peoples responses to their discussions and I cry at the responses to my discussions , I even cry at the soaps on TV , My hubby keeps telling me its only a pro gramme , And I know that but it still doesn't stop me from crying , I honestly think a good cry gets rid of a lot of my tension , take care pal xx

Hehe oh yeah that sounds like me. I do agree that a good cry can help at times. Sometimes it is just what we need to feel better.

That it can. Can also make it a lot easier to get some sleep because you are so exhausted from crying.

During PMS week, I just can't handle the littlest problem without bursting into tears. Everything is just too much to deal with. I like to think that I am generally a happy person, but definitely during those 2 weeks. If I ever get off my butt and get a Dr, I will have to talk to her about this. It isn't right. My husband buys me chocolate during that week and reminds me to eat it.

Yesterday was my worst PMS freak out day ever. I got to work on time, 3pm. On Mondays, the nurse before me leaves early. On my desk were four referrals for admissions arriving between 3 and 4:30. I took one look and the tears just started rolling. Then they put a fifth one on top. I started to hyperventilate! I was seeing spots and just couldn't breathe. My unit manager told me to go in the bathroom and finish my cry and then come back and we would see what we could do. Obviously if I weren't hyper-emotional I would have realized right away that they didn't expect me to do all 5 by myself. Two girls from the office helped me alot. I ended up leaving work at 1:30 this morning, only two hours late!

OH I feel for you. I know how that can be normally let alone when you are PMSing. I know how bad intakes/admissions are for nurses so I can just imagine panicking when you saw 5 there. You're lucky. I've known some places that would have expected you to do all 5 as crazy as that sounds.

I do know what you mean. I do the same thing. The least little thing can send me into tears. It's not a good situation. Not sure if they can do anything to help or not but I do know chocolate often does :)

I rarely suffer from PMS but when I do, OMG I don't even want to stay in the same room with myself!!!!! LOL Oddly enough you would think the kids would have learned by now that when mom does once in a blue moon get like that just leave her alone so you can live to see the next grade in highschool but NOOOOOOO! They find that this is the best time to tell me they're failing and they need a $200 dress for this dance and oh by the way did I tell you I broke my Ipod or some fun thing that is going to make me pop like a bottle of champagne! LOL Lucky for them I only get these really bad bouts maybe a couple times a year, not sure why but I'm glad it's not more!

I definitely do think we're a lot more sensitive to our surroundings and such when we're in that mode. I'm sure we've got a much shorter fuse!

Oh I agree I have a very short fuse during that time. I think it's barely a nub at times. I know I try to just keep away from everyone so that way I won't blow.

Isn't it amazing how they pick those times to tell you that? I swear they time it to see if they can push you over the edge. You are very lucky to only get them now and then. I get that way every month and I agree the kids and everythign always seems to hit them. Maybe it's just I'm more sensitive then and everything seems to be huge problems when they aren't?

Depression is new to me. I have been feeling like you described since about November. I went to my family Dr and he gave me cymolta and it just put my mind in a haze all the time so I quit taking it. He then put me on lexapro and that did nothing at all. I went to my neorologist and sent me to another Dr and this Dr put me on amitriptiline and I am doing some better. I have never felt this way in my life. I cry and I just lay around. some nights I sleep for 10 or more hours and then some nights, I dont sleep at all. I am hateful. LOL

Oh I feel for you. I hope the doctors can help you out with it. I know how you feel believe me. I wish there was something nice and easy we can do to fix it all.

With PMS I've always found that I became more irritated and aggressive - How EVER - with the hot flashes, night sweats and menopause along with depression - I cry at the least provocation - that Hartford commercial is a real getter.

I know what you mean. With me I'm peri-menopause which means some months I get PMS for three weeks but nothing else with it. It is a nightmare. My pms starts 2 weeks before so I'm sure you can imagine how miserable it is.

Yes I do tend to be more depressed during PMS. And I do want to sleep a lot too. I agree everything does seem exaggerated. It must be those hormones reaking havoc on our bodies. I too have cried from commercials. It seems nuts to me even at the time but it doesnt' stop it from happening. LOL

For me it was the mood swings when I would be a different person...one who was filled with anger, frustration and rage sometimes. My thoughts would turn to outragous feelings of despair and ...I can't go there...it was awful. Fighting these feelings would leave me drained of energy and in pain, or perhaps the pain came first. Thankfully I'm past that now but the depression has never left me.

I cry very easily ALL the time, but I can always tell when my period is coming becaue I cry for NO reason! LOL My cycle is not ever on time...so the only way I know is when I start crying a lot. :)

I think it does. I always wanted to be left alone when I feel that way and my hubby would say he knows whats wrong and laughs about it.

You're describing me exactly, except for the sleep thing. I find it terribly hard to sleep when I'm on my monthly cycle. I suffer from insomnia anyway, but it gets so much worse for me. At the end of the week, I feel like a zombie yet I cannot sleep. As for the emotions, yes, I'm bad lol, I will cry at the slightest thing be it good or bad. It's the only time I'm so emotional.

YES! I am bi-polar and I find that when pms strikes I am definitly worse! After having my daughter last June I talked to the Doc about birth control because I didn't want another baby right away. He said that because I am bi-polar, and because their was a chance I could post pardum because with having bi-polar your risks double he would put me on the shot. That way I wouldn't have to deal with pms and the monthly cycle either! I think that was a great idea. Now the only times I seem to get depressed is when things in my life are going on. Unfortunately their is no shot or pill for that.

yes, i do think that pms makes the depression worst. i easily cry at every little thing you can imagine and i tend to blow things out of proportion. i can also become morbid when im having pms. im really sad about this because i know that whenever i have bad tempers, and hideous mood swings, i hurt my family and the people that i love. oh, i wish there was no pms. :P

Yes! I go through the same thing.
