Most of candidates for senators, here in the Philippines, pay millions for celebrity endorsers in their campaign. Do you think that would add up points for them?
Sarah Geronimo for Ed Angara, Sharon, Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo for her Husband Kiko, Angel Locsin for Koko Pimentel and a whole lot more.
Does it really works for you? Or you still consider the capacity, education and work profile of a candidate regardless of who endorse for the candidate?

We in the family used to ask why in the world God allowed the Philippines to be controlled by the urban poor - those people who lived in poverty, those people who squat in other people's property, those people who didn't even pay taxes!
it's the awful truth - these people - the uninformed, the one's easily swayed by celebrity endorsers - these people outnumber the middle class - the one's who do the hard labor, the one's who are well informed about who should be voted because of good track records, the one's who pay the taxes that pays for those government officials.
either we inform those common folks or we should try to be more reproductive and try to outnumber these people. :)

Most of the voters choose popular candidates... that is why these senatoriables think that if they pay popular artists to endorse them... more people will vote for them.

my husband has always been so vocal about his dislike for Ed Angara but he likes sarah geronimo a lot. he even hates abs-cbn for teaming her up with mark bautista because he thinks sarah is too good for markLOL. The other night, my 4year old daughter said that daddy no longer like sarah because she sings "Ang gara, ang gara ng buhay mo..."
that got me to thinking, did the celebrities and their managers ever thought that the personality of the candidates they agreed to endorse might also hurt their image? did they agree to endorse that candidate because they believe in him or just because of the money?
i think celebrities are really of help in making people remember the names of candidates. like how valuable juday had been to jamby madrigal years ago. jamby was practically unknown to the filipino people before the elections but she became a household name when juday endorsed her.

yes they do, didn't Jamby Madrigal wins because of Judy Ann. If not for Judy Ann, Jamby's vote would have been very nil. The problem in the Philippines is that many still votes because of popularity and not on what the candidate can actually offer to do.
But for me, I am not influenced by the movie stars in choosing my candidate. Honestly, the more I do not like Sarah Geronimo for endorsing Ed Angara. I am a big fan of Sharon but I am not voting Kiko. I don't want to hurt Sharon so I won't say anything about Kiko. I also like Angel Locsin but voting for Koko will make two Pimentel's in the senate, besides what have they done?
Cesar Montano is a very good actor but what will he do in the senate, just his way of attacking Richard Gomez is so cheap. Richard Gomez has this tax evasion case because he was protesting against Arroyo administration, did Cesar Montano realize he is trying to dig on faults which his party leader is trying to cover. Cesar did is an unthought action, why can't he just concentrate in proving that he can really do something for the people. As for Richard I am still sudying his flatform I am not so convince yet.
