Is there such a thing as video game addiction? Video games have basically taken over my brothers life. Right after school every day he will sit in fronto of the tv and play until 3 in the morning a lot. Is there any way to help him overcome the need to keep on playing games all the time?

Yes one can be addicted to video games or computer games. I myself go through phases where I'll be playing a computer game obsessively several hours a day. Then eventually I get bored of it and move on to a different game. I don't really have any advice on how to help your brother. I guess these games are addicting because they are interactive. I know I used to read a lot before I ever got a computer, now I don't read nearly as much as I'd like to.

Yep, I'm one of those who can get easily addicted to video games. The only way you can overcome it is if you finished the game, get tired or have some other hobbies. I think video games is a good hobby than your brother spending time with other "vices" like smoking or drinking. Video games is good, clean fun.

We have different likes, habits, etc. It's just that your brother found what he loves to do and enjoying it at the same time. You became attached to it. Addicted to it. It gives him a different feeling when he plays his games. In effect it could be hazardous to his health and might get preoccupied with it.He might neglect his studies. If he can find or if you can introduce to him a productive stuff, like sports that he will enjoy, he might divert his attention to it. It's hard to quit it. He can first lessen the number of hours he used to play. He should not wait for something to happen to his senses before he stops.
