Love cats

First of all I love cats. Now with that said I cant have them in the house because of my family but I do still take care of them outside. Wondering if people think this is not exceptable. Now I live on 10 acres in the country and I do provide them with shelter and heat and pretty much all the food they can eat but sometimes accidents happen and kitties get hurt. Just last week I found one that was hurt he was dumped here about 2 weeks ago and then I dont know what happened on tuesday he came up and had been hurt by something like a car not an animal. So I took him to the local animal protective league and they were kind enough to take him in and provide surgery for him and then hopefully help him to find a inside home. Ok the question is that some people looked at me kind of funny when I told them I have alot of cats that live outside. I thought maybe they thought I didnt care for them and love them as much just because they are outside. Do you think this? I am concerned maybe just for my own well being that they thought I was just mean for keeping them outside. But they are farm cats I mean I do everything I can to keep them warm and safer and feed but I cant help if they get hurt. And if they do I try to do everything I can to help them before I turn them over to the APL which will be able to help them more because they have money and vets who can get them meds and surgery if they need it. But I got the feeling like some people didnt think I loved the cat just because I was going to turn him over to the APL, I mean there is just no way I could afford the surgery he needed and I cant keep him inside for the care he would require but I still love him and care for him and just want him to have the best care since I couldnt provide it. Well I have went on and on but I am really hurt that someone might think I dont love my cats just because I am not able to provide for them if they get hurt and that I would let them go to the APL I mean the only other choice I saw as either give him to them and have them help him or have him put to sleep. Tell me what you think.

There are lots of families who prefer to keep their cats outside. It's a matter of choice, when I was growing up, we had outside pets, as well as indoor pets, there are good reasons for both... If your cats are happy and healthy, and the shelter is adequate, it ok to have them outside... Catster for you: http://www.catster.com

I understand that you can't bring all these poor animals into your house & life. The fact that people think cats, or dogs, will do just fine out there in the country just shows how STUPID the person is. You are beyond kind to do what you can for them. I have 24 inside cats, I have one that refuses to come in & lives outside. If I lived in a better, safer place I might let some of the others out to be inside/outside cats, but I don't so I don't.
