I'm not sure that I like the way American Idol ended this week

By the show not giving anyone the boot, they seem to have set up someone who might have been weak this week and strong next week to exit early. Because of the huge number of calls generated, someone who might have survived this week may not be able to muster enough votes next week to stay on with the two added together. I think it would be ok to give someone another week, but not to add the votes together.
The weak link this week should get an automatic pass from the show next week. Then the votes from next week's show should only stand for next week. This won't entirely solve the problem because the non-contestant will pull some votes next week, but at least it will give a more reliable outcome.

I respectfully disagree about not adding the votes together. Dancing with the stars has done this also, and it worked out wonderfully. If they didn't add all the votes together, what would happen to the first set of votes? Canceled out? That wouldn't be fair either.

I agree since ALOT of people called in to vote especially since our votes made money and I know I didn't spend my time voting for nothing. Lol. And I'm sure the fans will vote for their faves as usual and especially next week to make sure their fave stays in since two will be going. I don't think it makes much difference to me since I always vote for my fave.

i didn't mind since it was a charity event. it was actually a good outcome, we were just treated to a great concert. i'm sure the numbers of votes wouldn't change the outcome that much...if you're that worried, why don't YOU vote next week for your faves so they get through...i mean...you got like 2-4 hours to vote most of the time...use it...thats how Jasmine Trias got so far in the competition...

I agree with you that the ending did not suite me at all. Boy O Boy this is a competition and in a competition there is no charity. If the rule says that lowest is out every episode, the he/she is out!! So by bending the rules, this do look a bit fishy in the way the Idol is selected.

I kind of agree with you but at the same time I don't everybody has a bad day at work so yes it is possible that someone who should have went home will stay but I think if you were a weak link this week you possible will be one next I love Lakisha but I think she should go because she tried to previous idol winners songs and she should have stayed away.But next week we loose to but I have a feeling that the calls will still be low if you get out there and mess up it will actually be a surprise and a shock to see what will happen when two idol contestants leave at the same time I would think like you did at first but if america does not like you it does not like you period.
