'I cashed out for hundred at the ATM in the morning but I found out i got nothing left when i went back home at the night time. I found out that the bus fares have been increased, the supermarket also put up the prices of many products,I bought some laundry stuff today for 20 dollars, but i could still remember it was much less than 20 dollars one year ago.My income may still be the same, that mean I can do less thing with one hundred bucks, what i did today was buy a bus ticket, did some grocery shopping and had a dinner.'
How about you?? Do you also find out that many thing have beem more expensive than before?any examples??
If you get 100 dollars, for how long you can spend on average??
Do you try to reduce the spending?? How ???
May be that is why many people try to work online to get some tax free income so that they can have more to spend.

One hundred dollars will not go far for me either these days. Everything is more expensive now than it was one year ago. Gas prices takes away alot of our extra money. We are paying almost double in gas now for my husband to get back and forth to work. I cannot hardly stretch one hundred dollars any more like I used to be able to. I can only buy a few things with that money and I still have a list of things that I still need to get. I try my best to reduce the spending and cut corners. I shop at reduced priced outlets to try and save a little sometimes. I work online every day to try and earn extra money to help to support my family.

True,I think the aussies even tyr to push up the gas prices even more as it seems that the gas stations have colluded together for more profit.
May be working online is a good source of tax free income as the tax rate in australia is so high,if oyu get one more part time job other than your full time, you will be taxed more here.

that's the way life is today. i used to think that this is true only to the third world countries. then i saw this movie with a child trying to buy his mother a gift, he was whining about nothing much good to come up with his 5 dollars or something, when the amount used to be magical the past year. it was an american movie, so i realized that this must be happening throughout this whole wide world.

Oh yes you do not get much for a $100 these day it is ridiculous how the money goes so quick with everything going up so much. But your income should of increased as mine sure did and most people I know theirs did as well. But it is true that the cost of living today is much more than a year ago. I do reduce my spending and mainly go and get my shopping when more items are on special this way I save my money. Of course you are right that more people spend time on the computer to earn some extra money so that they can afford to buy other items and it is tax free.

I think everything is going up due to the gas prices are rising. This time last year the gas prices were less and so the trnasport of items were by cost less. Not with gas rising, so will everything else but our paychecks.

I think the demand. With so many people out there driving large SUV's, the cost of gas keeps rising.

Well it all depends on the economy of the state you live in and the area that you live in.
I know that the living costs at the big city here have raised so much in the last year, so when i drew a 100 new shekels from the Atm machine, it is enough for to buy a few groceries or to go to a coffee shop, i know that last year it was worth a lot more.
But about the dollar situation, the dollar is worth less now then it was last year here, so when i get a 100$ from the atm machine it can be used for many more things then it could have, the year before.

100 dollars does not go as far as it used to a year ago. The price of gas has sky rocketed in Ontario. It is $1.04 a litre now. I am budgeting almost 10 dollars more a week than I used to. I like to go to bingo. That has increased by about 10 dollars or more a night to play. The hall is closing on Sunday, so I will save that money. I rejoined the gym. It was about 16 dollars biweekly, now it is 22.

Definitely the value of money is decreasing day by day. Same thing with me, what I would be able to buy in $100 one or two year ago, now I can get much less than that.
I can remember two years ago for two of us we could manage with $50 or $60 for one week's grocery. But now for the same period of time we need $80 or $90 for two of us.
In this situation we all need some extra money to cover a little of the price high. Because our main source of income does not goes up so frequently as frequently as the price for things goes up or you can say our all kind of expenses goes up.

I absolutely do agree with this. $100 doesn't get me very far at all now.
For instance, $20.00 worth of petrol sometimes doesn't even fill half my tank.
There is no way that $100 would pay my weekly food bill.
As for clothes, I rarely buy them.
Fruit & vegetables have gone up a lot, & will go up even more so if we go to level 5 water restrictions.
It certainly is one of the reasons I am on My Lot, & other online programs to earn more money.

I do experience that one also. Here in our country the prices are really increases and also the fare on a jeepney but then my allowance is still the same thats why its very hard this days than before. And the VAT also increases but we have notice also that the value of peso increases because before the equivalent of $1 is to 55 pesos and now $1 i to 48 pesos.

The money just gets smaller with inflation. The price of everything increases except the pay. To continue enjoy spending, the only way is to make more money, don't care how.
Online is one source because it is open 24 hours internationally for any walk-in, and one can hold many many jobs to supplement the income, not matter how meagre. $100 is barely enough to cover my transport cost for a month. To reduce spending would mean I need to resort to walking instead of take public transport.

Yes, I agree with you. A $100 is not so big now a days. Once you start to buy something, it goes on and on without realizing that your hundred dollar bill is gone and you didn't have much to buy with your 100 bill.Yes many people try to work online or invest online just to find out that they are being scammed and that makes it more difficult. Goodluck!

One hundred dollars has no value anymore especially here in the Philippines for every thing the price increase from food to oil. Good thing there in abroad that everybody there either rich and poor can afford to buy same food, unlike here only the rich can afford to eat expensive foods. Before we used to eat in a restaurant every Sunday, now we're just doing it if there is an special occasion because of that extended value added tax. Need really to tighten our built in order to survive. Just buying what is the necessities and no more luxuries. That amount will last only for a few days now a days.

yes its true mthat things have become really quite expensive thanks to the inflation. So even a hundred dollars would be quite less for daily use.
I dont think they will last even two weeks.
As it is our tastes have increased drastically over the years and so has the price of them. Dunno where the world is heading to.

Definitely!!! Prices have blown through the roof but pay increases seem to only trickle!
I remember being able to grocery shop and only spend couple hundred dollars for a fair amount! But now, going out and buying everything for one meal and a few extra tidbits seems to always cost around 50 bucks! When I used to shop for a couple weeks at a time!
So now, it becomes...do we really need this or that? If there a cheaper off brand? What is the price difference between the brand new and the generic? Is it worth the extra few pennies? Sure this might cost more now...but in the long run, if I buy this bigger size, am I saves money? Or are they just going to eat it faster because there IS more?
People go online to earn more money...pennies do really add up...myLot is proof of that! We find clearance items online and websites that offer free shipping. We join sites that have the annoying junk mail just to be able to print up more coupons. Heck, we have even started putting our own stuff on ebay in hopes to get a few extra bucks. And we have even started to meet people online because it is cheaper to say home rather than go out and join any groups or activities that cost some type of fees.
Next thing you know, we all will only be eating PB&J sandwiches or Ramen noodles. But even then...it will not be the "Top Ramen" brand because they put out a cheaper off name brand of the same noodles!
No...a hundred bucks does not go that far anymore!

True, even I do not spend on any 'luxury 'items, i fidn that the 100 dollars cannot buy much things for basic needs. It is not reasonable, many of the imported goods have their prices increased, but the exchange rate of aussie dollars have been increasing in the past few years , that mean goods can be bought at a relatively lower price in local currency,by pusing up the prices, the supermarkt may have earned alot by reducing the importing prices and increasing the selling prices, they will not lose any consumers as we all need those basic needs..

As long as there is inflation, you will lose the value of your $100 over time. Put it in the bank today, draw interest, and you might break even a year from now. But, yes, the prices for many things are rising. But some prices are actually falling too. I think for most everyday items, prices are going up.

I have noticed over the years it has become harder to stretch one hundred dollars. Even the cheap non-name brand stuff is being marked up. Also I believe next month postage rates are gonna be raised again to around $0.50 a stamp and not sure about the other postage rates, but I would assume those are going up to.
Before I could make one hundred dollars last a week, now I am lucky if I can make stretch a whole week. The price of living seems to be going up every day, but wages aren't, so it's making it a problem for those who make the very minimum in wages to sustain a good (not rich) life.
These I don't spend as much as I use to. Just what is necessary to fed the family and whatever medical expenses they may have, but play has been greatly reduced to what can be done out in the yard as a family. But it just gives me that extra boost to work even harder, so sometime soon my family and I will have the extra money to go out to an amusement park or the zoo, other things like that.

Yes, it could be worth much less than a year ago. It is due to time value of money and other factors such as increasing gasoline's prices, inflation, the changes of economy and fiscal policies. I also realize that everything is more expensive today than a year ago. In Canada, tax is very high. We have to pay Provincial tax plus Good and Service Tax. When you are spending $ 100, you may only get about $ 86 (net). You can't have much luxury for $ 86 in Canada. How about in Australia?

I think you must be studying economics and finance as you seems to be very familar with those stuffs. We also have goods and services tax here, it is ten percent, that mean without the GST, we will have a discount of 10% off.
I am afriad i have to consider milk to bea luxury later on if the prices of good keep increasing.

Hi easy, yes our money does not go anywhere now days.I use to could buy a 100 dollars of groceries and have lots and lots of food, now days, its like just a few items and poof that 100 dollars is gone. They are presenting a bill to congress to raise the minimam wage to like a little over 7.00 per hour,i forgot the cents, but anyway i sent in a vote along with many others to raise the minium wage..If the price of everything goes up and our salary is the same we are going to be lacking. It seems the only ones now days getting an increase in salary is the higher ups,and that is not fair to us (the public)...I have began to go to nice resale shops to purchase sweaters, blouses, and some things i need.they sell expensive things for low prices. The rich donate and give away to charities things that cost them a lot of money so i take advantage of the resale shops.I buy real nice brands for low prices, and it helps.I always have to buy jeans at walmart when they have mark downs.I also go to garage sales and rummage sales a lot to find things that i need.I really needed a blender and this church in town was having a rummage sale and i got there late when they were getting ready to close,i bought one like brand new (Oster brand) for 2.00,thats what i do to try and save.I buy groceries at HEB,and now days i buy their brand, and it is good..They have also opened grocery ware houses here in texas and you can purchase high priced food still in date for half the price. Some things i never skimp on however and that is meat,i buy good meat,so saving on these other items helps me to purchase first class at the meat counter..

buying power of money has further gone down . This a phenomenon all over the world. wads of currency melts in just a matter of hours ..you do shopping ..visit a restaurant .. it's gone .
