i feel its 50% important as sumtimes ur ego can take away lot of special moments and people from ur life, but sumtimes it is important to have one to hold on to ur self respect....Whay say???? Most of us loose out on great oppourtunities just because we feel his work is not suitable for me...its good to be egoistic but not over egoistic.....

Well my friend, egotism can find a lodgement only in shallow natures, and it betrays itself through the unconsciousness of the possessor. His boasts, which are so convincing to himself, only betray his shallowness to others.
A painter once said,"I paint six paintings in a year, while my master took six years to complete one painting."
Here is the egoist speaking, here is egotism at work blinding the eyes of judgment. He does not see how his boast, instead of impressing us,only holds him up to contempt;or how his estimate of art by bulk and rapidity of output reveals his insincerity as a craftsman and a critic.
Now, its for you to judge, if you really require that 50% of ego ,which you feel is so important in life....self respect is a different thing altogether and there should be no compromise when your self respect is hurt.

Self respect is the illustration of your pride and ego is the illustration of your importance. You wont often show your self respect as it lies an invisible x-factor within you and we often show our ego just to make others know that you care more about yourself than others. Ego is the act of showing how great you are and it shows that you are a insecure self doubted person. Enthaustic people look as if boastful as a shyful person looks an aloof. Its hard to judge a man's inherit character and its easy to find ourself where we actually stand .

If you go specific , everyone are egoitistic to a certain level if they get conceited. Its a mask we wear to avoid our weakness. if someone critics you, do you get angry? and upto what level. if you call an atheltic a poker, he wont get angry at you rather he will leave you a smile. Egoitism occurs only when you care more about your self importance and thats good to have it in you upto some certain level where it wont affect others. There is always a fine line between superiority and inferiority. Self importance makes you proud and pleasure and you can enjoy your life even when you are alone and you back your decisions at all time. Great Sporting teams are mostly egoistical teams. I agree with you egoistism should not exceed to the extent where we get small heart to find big head.
