Will you just gave them money so they can buy their own food? Or you just prepare a food for them before they go to school?
For me, i think it's better to prepare them food at home before going to school, because we're not sure if the food they bought in the school is clean or not. And i don't want to risk their health for that.

I think mine prefer that I make there lunch that way I know they are getting something good for them that they will eat and I dont have to worry so much. Like what are they useing to clean their fruit? Is it toxic? I know I use my tough n tender multi purpose cleaner for this because not only is it non-toxic but I trust this product is cleaning off the other chemicals!

it is better that we prepare them food for lunch and breaks. we are sure that the children will be taking them right. they will still be given some money to buy some food in the canteen which they may find some liking to, but if we talk to our kids about the need to have the right foods, they will know which ones to pick.

For the most part the preparers at the schools are OK, it's mostly is your child eating what you want them to eat when given a choice. Here is what we do, @70% of the week our daughter takes food from home. Then she is allowed to mix it with school lunches on the other days to keep a variety.

I normally prepare snacks for my daughter for her to eat during her break. It could be biscuits,a bun or sandwiches. However, I do give her money to get her own lunch in school when she has got to be in school early for her gym lessons once a week .

We let the kids look at the menu and pick what days to buy based on what meals they liked. Then they get money for the days they buy. We give a little extra so they can get snacks, but we give all the money for the week at once. That teaches them to budget for the rest of the week. And they have to think about lunch as an expense so they can't just spend all their money on junk.

I have no experience about school foods in the US but home made food must be better and at least you know what your children eat. Maybe there are some healthy choises they can buy at scool too.
In the country I live, the kids have free lunch at scool and they can choose a vegetarian alternative and lots of salads. Even in the 50s when I was at school, we got a free cooked meal at lunch.
