I have read many a post on mylot where people were complaining about their dog having such and such a behavioral issue. Excessive barking, chewing, nipping, etc etc. Here's a simple solution to some of your everyday problems. Most dog behavior issues stem from one thing: a lack of mental and physical exercise. Dogs of all sizes, even Chihuhuas benefit from daily exercise. You'll be amazed to see what a calming effect a 30 minute walk will have on your dog. There is no such thing as a dog that doesn't need exercise, so try to incorporate at least 30 minutes a day to playing with your dog. Use the internet to find a local dog park, or hiking trails that allow dogs. If you own a herding breed, maybe look into sheep herding lessons. Agility lessons appeal to dogs of all sizes, or obedience classes if you want your dog to start obeying basic commands. Your dog will be much happier and will definetly start calming down once it finds an appropriate outlet for its energy.

I couldn't agree with you more. Dogs need a lot of attention and walking. I walk my dogs at least once a day for longer that 30 minutes...I never count my time...very often it is more that one hour...it is good for all of us....it keeps me calm as well..:)
