Is an uncontrollable outpouring of emotions selfish?

Today I was watching a little girl (about 2yrs)start coughing ver hard. She reminded me so much of the little girls who lived with me from birth to 5+ years of age;then she was forced to move 1,500 miles away. My tears started streaming down my face and I could not get my emotions under control. I miss this little girl more than I know words to express. It took me over 10 minutes to control my tears. I was also embarrassed since I was in a publice place. Was I being selfish to allow my emotions to show so much? My prayers go out to all the people in this world, women, men, & children who may have the same emotions going on within themselves.
