Okay since I've been doing a bunch of discussions about pets I thought I'd spring another one on you--LOL--Do you think you talk MORE to your pet than to people in general? I live alone which could explain a lot...and yes, I do go to the outside world and communicate to people and talk on the phone..I'm not that much of a recluse..heheh..but I swear I think I talk more to my cats than I do to people

I often talk to our cats in the house as they are a part of our family but I wouldn't say I talk to them more then I talk to other people . We are a family a seven so there is always someone to talk to inside the house :)
I believe animals need to be talked to though and know that they are cared about in order to grow healthy . Our pets need to be talked to and even though they can't answer us back they do respond in their own way .
Pets can be a comfort when we are feeling down and can make us smile when they do something cute . Pets are very important to us that have them and need to know we care and talking to them lets them know if we are happy ,mad or just sad !!

erm.. nope.. but sometimes i do like to talk to my pet.. i think they're the best listener.. atleast they know how to react a little.. and they won't bug you.. giving you more stupid ideas that might confuse you.. right? they don't scold you as well.. they've been supportive all the while.. that's why it's good to have a pet with you.. i think communicating with peoples is far more difficult than to communicate with pet.. do you think so? atleast pet won't think of betraying their owners.. they will only obey and be there when the owner needs them.... this is what we call loyalty =)

I definitely do think it's harder to talk to a person than a pet---sure wish they could talk back at us at times though..but maybe that would spoil everything..no?

You probably get less cheek and more sensible answers from your pets than humans!
I do chatter to my birds and I also shout at them a lot too. "Get off the picture frame" "Do NOT nibble that artex" and just lately "If you bite through the doorbell wire one more time . . ." They perch there, little heads on one side, listening and they shriek off, refuel and bombard me with peanuts! Now, is that "Sorry, I won't do that again?"
Thought not!

I know my two pampered brats are like my kids too...and I've been doing a lot of talking to them lately...they seem to know something is out of kilter in my life right now and been real cuddly with me--so of course I've been talking a blue streak to them...and it's nice they listen!
Uh--you have three cats..how come the dog avatar--LOL--it's adorable though

Well I don't go out much so I talk to my animals a lot. Of course it might be something as simple as move out of the way when they are blocking the computer screen but I talk with them. Sometimes they get to hear all of what I'm feeling and all my secrets. It all depends on the day and what is happening. They are great. At least I know they won't tell others :)

OMG--wouldn't it be terrible if our pets could talk and tell our secrets? Hehehe

I talk to our 2 cats everyday. I also have a cockatiel. He likes to have conversations with me. He is quite the talker. I even have a goodnight song that I sing to him. I keep him in my bedroom, so for like 10 mins every night, he says night night boo boo, love you boo boo. Then he starts whistling lol.

That's fantastic that not only can you talk to your cockatiel, but he talks back to you--that's a nice and unique experience for a pet owner!

..ha,ha...yes..I do talk to my pets all day long...sometimes I think they want me to stop and leave them alone...I talk to them because they always listen and never talk back...sometimes younger dog can move her head from side to side..showing me that she has hard time to believe what I just said...specially when I mention about going to walk them at least expected time...

I do know what you are talking about LOL!
I would say no though because I work in such a public place - Wal-Mart.
If I didn't though I would have to say it was at least equal. LOL

When I had animals (I live in a dorm now and most of my pets got stolen from me :( ) I would talk to them all the time as if they were a person. Sometimes you just need to talk and get the feeling that someone is listening to you. I had a cat once that I would talk to all the time and he would actually look at me when I talked and sometimes if I was talking to him about something sad he'd rub on me like he was trying to console me. He even slept with me, mostly around my head almost like a halo or he would sleep right against my back or stomach and it made me feel safe. Sometimes when you just need to express things and you can't say them to people it is good to tell them to a pet because it's not like they can spread it around, but at the same time it makes you feel better too!

Well, I talk to my 15 month old son most, but now that I'm a stay at home mom, I probably do talk to the dogs and the cat more than anyone besides the baby. Their communication skills aren't quite as good as the baby's, but they get in the way more! LOL My son LOVES to talk to them, too.

It's okay to talk to pets. I not only talk to them but I also hug them and play with them It's just a normal thing to do because I treat pets just like a friend or someone close to me.

Actually, I am not that much of a talker during the day when my kids are all at school. My pets probably think I am one of the quietest people in this house!!! ha ha Which is odd. Because I am a talker...I just don't talk that much during the day. ha ha
So, since I am more wake at night than day time, I guess I talk to people more than I do my pets.
Oh, and there are not that many people I even talk on the phone with...4 people and not that often.
My mother will call occasionally. My sister in West Palm about once a month.
My partner...which it would be to ask me to do something or tell me he is on his way home. Or, my sister/best friend in Kansas....which, we talk on the phone more than I do with anyone else!!!
So, when her and I are on the phone...my dogs probably thinks there is something wrong with me. ha ha

Yes, I do. I like to talk to them casually like they're people living with me. I like to tell them what I feel. For me, it's better coz dogs won't get mad and won't yell at me like people do. and I think they understand me more than my friends and family do.

I definately do. I am out working during the day but I drive so I don't talk a lot.....and since I live mostly alone my cat is my best companion. She never complains that I talk to much and as long as her needs are taken care of she is perfectly happy to listen to me rattle on or sometimes watch tv wit me...:}
