Maybe for some politicians, they get to do their promises but most of them, they use politics to have more money. They spend a lot during campaigns so when they are in office, that's the time they will get the money they used during the campaigns....

they are running for posts because if they are seated, they will have access to money. that way, they can easily add more money to their dwindling wealth. let us campaign for the institution of a federal-parliamentary form of government in this country. the senators do not like this, becasue this can curb so much of the graft and corruption that is happening around us.

I think that if there were a candidate that donated most of their campaign money to charity then they would win hands down. In the age of internet and tv there is no reason to travel to get your word or point of view out to the public. Show me that you can put your own money where your mouth is and you have my vote.

I believe many are really trying, but it is not as easy as it looks. Others are so overwhelmed and bombarded by other things they sometimes forget... - DNatureofDTrain

yaah yes ...most of the politicians of todays world are giving many promises to the public....but when the time comes ie,,. after they come into power they are not atleast bouthered of the promises they have given at the time of election ,,,, this behaviour must change ... over the past decade or so the public rather the voters are very keen in electing representatives who can represent their problems in the big stage..whether at the state lever or the central level... ...... anyhow thaks for posing a good discussion..... regards kishaN

Politicians are good liars. They are using the government for their own interest and not for the good of others. They steal the people's money for their own satisfaction. Promising politicians are not sincere. why? because promises are always meant to be broken. Better not vote. They will always cheat the result and no progress will happen. There is hope but until when will people hope? Goodluck!

They go to the squatters' areas? Yes, Cherrie, they will go anywhere, even to the ends of the earth to buy votes! They want that POWER badly!!! They want MONEY! The more money they will pay for your vote, the more you should not vote for them. They want power so bad and that's dangerous! They can spend so much money now because they know that if they get the position they are aspiring for, they will be able to get a return of investment! From where? Think.

Oh yes it does not matter which country you are in all politicians always spend far too much money when they are running a campaign I do this that this money would be better used for better things in every country like hospitals, food or whatever the people really require in their country to make them more comfortable.

hello politicians and lawyers go hand in hand. you ask any politician or check their background and most of them were lawyers or in the law feild. Politics is a game and the people are the ones who suffer. Its no different then playing their military games and the people are the ones who suffer. More people need to stand up and stop taking all this BS. Its the people who make the country, for without them you have no country. The more you give the people the more they prosper and as a result the country prospers. Its not the politicians that own the country, although they may think they do, its the people who own the country. And its the people's voice that needs to heard. Namaste

I don't really believe that there is a clean politician here in my country. What I do is choose among them who delivers on their promises or who are better at performing their jobs. It's a matter of choosing the lesser of all evils.

You know that last election there was a new party of the pensioner people that came in the government. Their age range between 60 to 90 years of age, and their leader is 80 years old. They are the only party in the politics of Israel that i can surely say that is doing something and trying to help all the old people and their situation. I knew that this is a very sad thing. Because that has always been in politics. A lot of talking and wasting of money, but when it comes to doing, there is zero results. Yes i do think, that somthing has to be done in order to fix this, but i do not know what and how. Yes, that money should go to poor people and other needed projects, and my country has a lot of those. But it does not, and i do not think it ever will be. It is like a game. Every politician is just talking in order to get elected and sit on a fat pay role, with a car and a lot of other things. The minute that they get elected, they just do nothing. I know there are very little politicians that even tried standing for what they said and doing anything that they promised they will do once they got elected.

Hi cherrie. Personally speaking , I think some politians are down right cunning, dirty and full of lies. They think and act on what best suits their own pride and power. They know the needs of poor people and manipulate there calls for help just to get a vote or two, to pump their ratings. This is my personal view, thats why I am very weary who and what I vote for. These people make all these laws for us to follow and yet they run mucks and corruption themselves. They make all these false promises, sit around, collect taxes and eat well, while the people slave for pennies, pay high taxes to fund there expensive holidays and god knows what else. You know who really benefits in the end. They do, Always!!!

I do not trust any of our politicians 100% I do vote for the person who tries to do the right thing. It is hard to know who to vote for. As it stands I would not vote for Hiliary Clinton I did not like her when she was in the white house with her husband. I do not want her in there again. I do not know if I will vote my party which is republician because of what Bush has done. So all the candiates have to show me more of what they think they can do for the county befoe they get my vote. I do not donate to candiates because I do not have the money but also I have not found one that I trusted well enough to give my hard earned money to.

yes i totally agree with you. the amount of money spent in campigning and rallies is quite a lot. if they really chanalize this money in the right direction, then surely, some problem will get solved. thay should try and do something constructive in place of wasting so much money.

If their sole purpose is to help people theres no need in running or joining politics. They can help people and spend money directly to people who needs help instead of spending a lot of money on campaigns alone. I think they can earn more money if they win the election and have the position than what they have spend during campaigns. They just live promises but actually they cant fulfill it. They just good in words.

Its the traditional way of campaigning i guess , shaking hands and all, especially on giving some money even its not allowed and a violation , sometimes i could think that this candidates really are thinking that they could buy us, only few i think that we could atleast be trusted in a way ..

I agree, but there's nothing you can do. I started a discussion some months ago about the millions of dollare that had been raised in the U.S.A so the candidate can run. To me there's no such thing as real democracy as candidates have to be billionairs, or very closebefore they get nominated. Then they only do things that benefit them,(look at Bush and Cheney)until close to the next election when they realise how unpopurar they are.

there is nothing new about this development. they always do so at all times every campaign period. they come out promising all sorts of things then come out with nothing. then the people vote for them. next time, they do the same thing and still people will still vote for them. i'd say that the best way to d eal with this will be to adopt the federal-parliamentary form of government so we can get rid of them.

This is really a sore point with me. I can't understand why the people are continually duped into donating funds to these greedy politicians when they are never going to receive a return on their investment. Sadly, we live in a world that is driven by greed, personal gain, no charity toward the poor. It's no wonder America is looked upon as a shadow of the great nation we used to be.

erm.. yes.. i do agree with you.. they are spending millions of dollar for the campaign.. why not use the money for a better use? with millions of dolar.. we can improve alot of thing.. we might subsidise some daily goods so others won't have trouble getting them.... we can also imporve our transportation system so the traffic won't get too congested..i think politicians are usually fakers.. they just talk talk and talk.. but.. they won't do as they promised.. this is reality.. we just have to accept that when someone has the power.. he will abuse it because he won't remember where he came from anymore.. that's what happening to many leaders in certain countries.. too bad..
