Do you wear outdoor shoes in your house? Do you allow guests wear their shoes?

In my country, people never wear outdoor shoes in their houses. This is because it is felt that shoes are very dirty and wearing them in the house would result in the house becoming dirty. So outdoor shoes are always left outside the house. Similarly, guests will always leave their shoes outside the house.
I heard that in some countries though, it is perfectly ok to wear outdoor shoes in the house. As long as they are not muddy or would cause the house to become dirty. Guests are also allowed to wear their shoes and walk around the house.
How about you? Do you wear shoes in your own house? Do you allow your guests to wear their shoes in your house? Why or why not?

I don't wear shoes on my house, and I don't let my guest to do so, eventhough most of the times they notice this by a neat stack of shoes and sandals by the door. We spend a lot of time to clean up the house (floors included), so I don't want them to get dirty easy, and so my daughters can play freely on the floor as well.

I loved in Scotland when i was younger where it was perfectly OK to wear outdoor shoes inside. I was quite surprised when i moved to Singapore and found that it was taken as a sign of rudeness. After two years of living there we returned to the UK. We now take our shoes off at the front door and leave them on a shoe rack. However we don't ask our guests to do the same. When my friends come over and they see me taking my shoes off they usually follow but i don't ask it of them.
