I am not scared of it, but I am not going to tempt fate and stand outside holding a lightening rod either. My mom has always been terrified of it though, and when I was growing up she used to wake me up in the middle of the night because of the lightening, make me sit on the couch away from all windows next to her. We had to unplug and turn off every electrical appliance and you were not allowed to touch the family dog because she was convinced that would cause static electricity that would make us get hit by lightening.

I'm not scared of lighting, but i have a healthy respect for it. I came very close to being struck once. We were having a strong wind blowing and some lighting flashing around. I had a plant on one of those Shepard’s crook. The plant was blowing straight out and looked like it would go flying. I decided to get it down so it would do any damage if it was sent flying. As I opened the door lighting flashed right in front of me. Leave it to be said the plant was on it's own.

Yip I agree, if you have no respect for lightning, it also won't repect you. Funny how some close encounter brings immediate awareness! Also like the old saying goes - Ignorence is bliss. I tell you what I see people during a lightning storm do the most stupid things... Like using an umbrella for example!

When I was young, my family lived in a house and there was a big tree next to it. We had installed a lightning arrester on the roof so it was safe. However, a lightning struck on the tree and split it. Part of the tree fell on our roof and it crashed loudly on our roof. It was a scary experience. Since then, I have to cup my ears whenever I see a bright lightning across the sky because it'll be followed by a thunderous roar and that reminds me of my childhood encounter.

I am not too scared of lighting as long as I am not too close to it. I actually think that lightning is a very beautiful display of nature. But of course, it can also be dangerous, and I would not wish to have it strike near me or hit my house! *laugh* ^_^

I'm not afraid of lightning, I'm afraid of being struck by lightning. Now thunder is another thing. That i'm afraid of.

The noise of thunder is a result of lightning and is not dangerous at all, but you can use thunder to estimate how far away lightning is away from you. Each second between the flash and the thunder is about 320 meters! Thunder can't hurt you but lightning will!
Be safe.

I'm not scared of lightning, but I sure as heck don't want to be struck by it! So I try to be careful. I think I'm more scared of thunder. I never liked the loud, booming sound of thunder growing up. The house I lived in as a child had really rattly windows. Every time thunder struck, the windows sounded like they were going to shatter. I hate that. I hate being woken up out of a deep sleep- usually to leap out of bed in fright. Or something I'll jump on top of my husband. LOL

I'm not scared from the lighting, but it's not very nice to be alone at home when there's a thunder storm going on I guess..
Usually I just turn on the t.v loudly when it happends..
