hi, ive noticed some things here on mylot that i want to address here in this post. some things are just meant to be kept to yourself, and i see a lot of people sharing everything down to the color of their underwear here. why are there whole discussions on how many times you brush your hair a day? here is my list of things that don't really need to be shared with a bunch of people you don't know.
~ That your husband/wife is fooling around on you. honestly, are you looking for advice when you post something like this? or just a little pity, some attention? If you really have to ask "what do i do", ask the therapist i'm sure the two of you will be seeing in the near future.
~ How many times a week you shave. seriously, i don't care. and no one else here cares either. your personal hygiene habits are your own business.
~ That you are sad no one bought you a present on your birthday. Why share that here? so we can say " awwww, im sorry to hear that! everyone is so insensitive!" No one here is going to buy you a present, so maybe you could tell your mother. i'm sure she will feel more sadness for you than we do.
~ How many phone calls you got today, and who called you and why. If the phone ringing others you, turn off the ringer. there is no need for you to come here and say " GOD my phone never stops! what do i do?!" we are happy for you that you are so popular, and everyone is dying to talk to you. (sarcasm of course, we couldn't care less). what kind of constructive conversation can be made of this topic?
~ The silly jokes you received in your emails today. Honestly, what kind of response can we post? "ha ha"? EARN your mylot dollars people. posting jokes isnt even an original thought of your OWN.
~ The encyclopedias, dictionaries, or thesauruses exact definition of ANYTHING. if we wanted to know it, we'd look it up. thank you anyway.
~ Announcing fake viruses, scams, etc. chances are, if someone sends you an email telling you that if you forward this email to other people you'll get 1 million dollars a year for life, its probably fake and no warning is needed to watch out for something so ridiculous. also, perhaps before you post a story about being suckered into some horrible scam, check these sites first. snopes.com and urbanlegends.com. save yourself the embarrassment of someone looking into "your story" and having them post saying "ya, this is fake."
~ Announcing that your cousin's aunt's sister's husbands mother's niece's best friend's cousin's ( thrice removed ) daughter, is having a boy! this is exciting for them, not for us. but hey, gratz anyway, id be a jerk if i didn't say it right? isn't that the point?
~ When you inhale and exhale. i think it's safe for us to assume that you are in fact breathing, as you were alive long enough to post here about it.
Im posting this because so many people are posting just for the sake of posting. So many people aren't actually earning their money here. And what's worse, is people are responding to, and indulging these lazy posters. There are so many things to talk about! World events, health issues, music, art, books! spend 5 minutes of your time and think of something worth saying. If you can't, just stop posting. please, for the love of all that is holy, stop spamming mylot with "i just plucked my nose hairs, is it supposed to hurt?"
I'm sure i'll be flamed for this post, as i am a mylot newbie, and who am i to have such opinions about mylot members so soon? Thats alright. i just call it as i see it, and i welcome all responses that this post might get. Thanks for taking the time to read this:)

Very well said and impressive coming from a newbie. I often complain about the BS posting going on here. There is to much important stuff to discuss than to worry about how many times I shave my legs. WHO CARES!
I'm glad that you had the guts to post your opinion, and you haven't received negative feed back either. Which I think is wonderful.
For those that are here to just earn money, wouldn't it be a shame if mylot stopped paying everyone because of all the garbage that gets posted her every single day.
It's important to have a friends base to post to quality discussions instead of having to go hunting for them. When you have to go hunting for them it's a lot of wasted time here.
Welcome to mylot and I hope that you keep this attitude and not give the members that post this kind of non sense a reply. I don't! I look for quality discussions to respond to, and don't have to go to far as my in box is usually full of them daily. :)

Thank you so much for the kind words. Everyday I come on here and wonder what some people are thinking (or more to the point that they weren't) when they posted some of these so called "discussions". Did they roll out of bed and say "what's the stupidest question that I could possibly ask today on mylot?" and then for kicks let me see if I can ask it in 5 words or less.
You would think that some of these people that have one discussion after another deleted would get a clue, but they don't. They just continue to post more stupid stuff and complain where "did my other discussions go?" "Has this ever happened to you?"
Stupid is my new "favorite" word for the day! :)

Thank you :)
I was actually expecting a lot of negative responses lol. (being that i AM a newbie) and this was high praise coming from someone who has been around here and knows what they are talking about. Now i have met someone who's discussions will be worth responding to, thank you for that too!

HAHA! really? your honesty made me laugh, and i appreciated it. can you tell me why, as a poster of things ive complained about, you choose to discuss things like that? i truly want to understand. is it just an earnings thing? that i can understand. i just think its too easy and can't understand why people wouldn't like the challenge of challenging someone else's mind.

Well, I tend to be very open and honest :)
BTW glad I could make you laugh.. I guess I just tend to be one that gets upset easy BUT I am not one to stand up for myself soo to "feel better" I often vent online .. on forums or to friends etc. Not that it gets me anywhere.. But Like I am one to get upset cry and hold it in and after soo long it comes out... I am trying to get better about just saying how I feel to people but so far its not going well :)
I have made a ton of good friends on boards/forums.. a few are more private that are only member eligible to read and the people that are allowed on are monitored.. so its like an online family. I guess its possibly weird to some but I have a lot of friends online.. Actually most of my friends are online somehow through a connection or I have met online. My best friend I met online over ten years ago and talk to on the phone nearly daily and we have yet to meet :) its a good story to tell to oprah someday?? :) But so I guess thats why I tend to just be an open book online. NOw, in person i am extremely shy.. Which has honestly gotten better since having kids but still not great..
So, now that I have wrote a novel :)
Happy Saturday night:)

i can understand that. its easy to be open with people online as they cant see you and will probably never meet you, so there aren't a lot of consequences to being very honest on here. worst that can happen is u stop typing to them and thats it. but im glad you make good friends that way:) thank you for the response to my question.

Thats true but as long as we got responses thats cool! you know! Sometimes we are running out of topic and for me lately, I found out that the topic I posted was posted already like that, so there are really instances that people will just try to start to anything that is personal or whatever to gain responses, increase rates and gain also some $$...Well..lets just enjoy being here and honestly in my case, I am not responding to issue or topics that i dont know but when it is something that I am interested with...I will share my idea about it! Thanks for posting this! Have a great day!

Hi checapricorn :)
I never had a problem with people posting things just to chit chat for fun, those are awesome topics. I was referring to topics that are just RIDICULOUSLY stupid lol. For example (I love to bring these up) I saw a topic today titled " hello" and the discussion was "hello". I mean what the frick is that?! lol
Anyway, thanks for the response have a nice day. :)

WELL SAID NEWBIE, LOL
Anyway I agree with you I went looking for discussions in computers yesterday and found one user ( a newbie themselves posted about 20 posts consisting of posts like . What is computer, explain / what is processor, explain. You get the point. We all know that this is just an attemp to up point and therefore earnings wont they be surprised when they don't earn.

Actually my friend (who's also a mylot member) and I talks a lot about some "nonsense" things that are posted here in mylot, but what can we do? These people enjoy posting things like that, we cannot stop them and you cannot either.. So the least we can do is just ignore the posts that we really don't like reading and that we think is such a waste of time and find some posts that are worth our attention... I mean, people here are free to post anything as long as its not hurting anybody as you are free to post your opinions and thoughts... Yup, others will be mad about your post but you should undestand them too, we are all members of mylot... I commend you for your bravery in expressing these thoughts, I would have just kept these sentiments to myself because I do believe nobody can please everybody... Welcome to MYLOT! Have fun! :D

i agree, i know we cant stop them from posting things like this, but i posted this for other reasons. first one being, the laughs. its just funny to read some of these, and i had to laugh with all of you. and second, the whole lengthy discussions that come of these posts. so we cant stop them from posting them, but i can BEG people to stop responding right? lol dont let the lazy posters earn money for this junk! gr! lol

The fact that you post things about movies and books excludes you from my list of people who talk about plucking their nose hairs lol
i was only trying to say that mylot is a neat place and so many ideas can be brought forth and discussed here. there is an opportunity to learn something new everyday, or teach someone something, and that is worth more than money.

Good morning Rhapsody,
I haven't really given it much consideration. I will admit that I rarely see the inane questions. I pretty much only get around to responding to questions posted from folks on my 'friends' list. And, I see three of my favorites are in this thread. (Resounding 'Hello's' to all) Very rarely is there an inane question among those on my list.
I am reminded of a line from "Desiderata", "Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant, they too have their story." In keeping with the spirit of that verse, I suspect that 'this here town's big enough for both' (pardon my cowgirl vernacular).
So, I won't begrudge the "coke or pepsi", or "is the sky really blue" questioners, because surely someone else will be 'in synch' with them on that particular day.
Please don't think that I'm putting anyone down for begrudging the silly questions posted, certainly they can be irritating. But, I myself find that sometimes even the seemingly ridiculous questions present an incling of genuine curiosity (which I would never wish to discourage), or may be the attempt of a lonely soul to reach out. So, I'm ok with them, as long as I don't have to respond.
What does bother me is that the inane remain while so many provocative questions are deleted. Sadly, it is what it is. I'm not gonna' get all in a tizzy about it. At least not today.
Thanks for the thought-provoking question Rhapsody. A good day to one and all!
