Joke~Riddle

This is kind of a joke riddle...and I think it might be really hard for some of you to guess...but I hope someone does get it.
you throw away the outside
you cook the inside
then you eat the inside
and you throw away the outside
Please don't look up the answer, it ruins the fun. If no1 gets it after a while I will tell you, and give best response to the most creative guess...remember, its a "joke riddle"

yes it is an ear of corn. But when I looked up this riddle I got two different answers ( I found the two different answers at different times) and the first one I found was the answer that made me think this was more of a 'joke riddle' because it said the answer was 'i dunno.' lol. then after i posted it I found the other answer that said an ear of corn. So yay! good job.
