as i have observed, some church goers fall asleep during sermons. whats the use of going to church if they will just sleep there, right? Sermons for me is the very heart of going to church. it is in this part where we ponder on God's word thru His chosen messenger.. so, has anyone here fall asleep during church service?

I have not fallen asleep during sermons but I have nearly fallen asleep during sermons. We should and must stay awake with all our might , strength, hear and sooul during sermons no matter how boring it maybe...because a word or two may just be for us.

No, I have'nt fall asleep during sermons, but funny my father does, I once asked him why he always feel sleepy when the sermon comes, when during sermon, you can learn and ponder on ourselves with our faith in God. Funny he just answered "the sermon is too long"...
thanks :)

You know, you are right that churchgoers shouldn't fall asleep specially during sermons or homilies by priests because it is always nice to hear some explanations about the Scriptures and the stories about Jesus and His Words. However, due to human nature, (and I am no exception) sometimes we get sleepy when we just came from work and remembered to go to church or sometimes when the priest himself doesn't deliver a lively sermon and whose tone of voice will make you sleep. But one time, our priest joked that the devil loves these people who sleep during sermons or the whole celebration because they will not be able to listen to God's Word and therefore, the devil can claim them to be his own ha ha ha
