All right folks I must be having a trip down memory lane! Things that I did when I was younger keep popping up in my mind. I come from a family of ten and what one didn't think of to do one of the others would. Well, when mom and dad were gone we figured katy bar the door we were going to have fun! You know what they didn't know couldn't hurt them. So my brother and I decided to get the phone book and started to look up resident phone numbers. We would dial the number and when the person picked up we would ask them if their refrigerator was running. When they said yes we would tell them that they better go and catch it. We would hang the phone up and crack up. One day we didn't know that mom and dad had come home early and didn't let us know they were there. They heard the whole thing and boy did we catch it. Mom and dad went the whole routine. You know we can't even trust you, guess we are going to have to get a sitter and to us that was a fate worse than death. Then we would be extra special good for a little while and than back to the drawing board for us kids. Have you ever done anything when you were younger that makes you laugh when you think about it today?

Yes we had a ball doing that until the day we got caught. You should have seen the look on our face when we realized that mom and dad were there looking at us with not to happy looks on their faces.

I have to admit I did this when I was younger. But never at my home, only when I was at my friends we would get on the phone. My favorite was " do you have prince albert in a can?" Also if an older lady answered the phone , we would ask if she had a recipe for pineapple upside down cake. Dont know why we thought that was so funny. They never asked who you were they would just start telling you how to make cakes. Well it was always fun , and we never got caught LOL

Of course I played tricks on the phone, it sounds so corny now, but it sure was fun back then. Now with caller ID and the call back, kids have a harder time of playing pranks on the phone. I see teenage girls walking down the street, you can tell they think they are all that. I remember being them, I think "what the heck was I thinking" haha. Its funny when we were kids we couldn't imagine our parents being kids. Then we grow up and we are parents, our kids do the same thing we did, now we know why we didn't get away with stuff, our parents had already done the same stuff when they were kids. Thats how they knew, haha. Life goes around in circles.

I've done a couple of prank calls too with my cousins in our younger days. I mean I'm STILL Young but I mean those kiddy jokes we used to pull. we ALWAYS got caught though lol. Our elder sis/bro's would always catch us red handed and tell on us which leads to punishment. However, we never seemed to learn from our lessons and still kept on doing stuff like that whenever we got together.
Writing this post made me miss the childhood days haha but I have a baby now and sooner or later maybe he'll be pulling prank calls on ME! lol

Sometimes my friends still do it! I already did it, and it's really funny.
Haha, you pretend you're an artist (if you can imitate his voice) and you trick people! "You won 1 million dollars". That is really funny.

With caller ID the kids can't do that today but I do remember oh so well.
One we used to do was call up and ask for mr. wall, of course the person would say there was no mr. wall there, then we would ask if any of the walls were there and they would say no,
the punch line was well what is holding up your house then.

When I was younger I did the same thing. One time my cousin and I were home alone and decided to do some pranking. The people that we ended up calling, called the police and they traced the call back to us. We were in such deep trouble! It was such a scary thing for a little kid to go threw. We really learned our lesson.
Now when my kids even mention pranking, I go balistic. I tell them about how much trouble I was in and how the police were called. That was even before caller id ect.
Well, about 3 weeks ago we had a party here with our adult friends and their kids. The kids were playing around on the computer and got on the soundboards site. My husband and one of our friends decided that it would be fun to prank some of their coworkers using the soundboard. I was freaking out! This terrible feeling came over me from long ago. It ended up being very funny. The friend answered and they pressed 'hey, this is your neighbor.' the friend said hi and then they pressed 'i want my paper back.' They kept going back and forth on this and it was very funny. After the prank, we called back to let them know it was everyone from the party~they were invited and didn't come. It was funny but not a great example for our kids.

lol yes me and my siblings use to pull some phone cranks back in the day. We would get any random phone number out of the book, call the number and ask the people if there were any walls there, they would say no, then we would say, then what the hells holding up your house, we would then hang the phone up and laugh, near pi$$ing ourselves. Never got caught once. But one night our mom went out with friends, she got us a sitter and sitter made toffee with us, which we enjoyed. And then we played a game of snakes and ladders before bed. When we went to bed we didnt go to sleep we planned to play a trick on the sitter, after sometime, she fell asleep on the sofa and we snuck in there drew on her face and tied her ankles together with our younger brothers shoe laces, all this time she couldnt feel nothing or hear nothing, and we were quietly giggling, trying not to be loud. We went down the hall way and dialled 137 which was the number we would dial for our own phone. She heard the phone ring, got a hell of fright, stood up to answer the phone and timbered, fell bang smack on her face, we were close by laughing, then when our mom came home she told our mom what we did and didnt realise her face and eyebrows were colour in black eyebrow pencil and smudged, my mom apologised, thanked and paid her and said she would deal with us later, I knew she wanted laugh, but through that we were grounded to the house for a week. I heard her telling my grandma and i they were both laughing... A very longtime ago, I have children now, I hope they dont do half the things we did then...

I think I might have pulled a couple of prank calls back in the day. Nothing too serious. I do remember though that my friends and I used to play Ding-Dong-Ditch on the old people around town. One guy actually bothered to chase us around and threatened to shoot us. Those where the days.....

Another one we used to do was call the taxi service and send it to someone near us and watch them open the door when a taxi pulled up in front of their house. Sooner or later Mom and Dad always caught us at these little pranks we played and we would pay the consequenses. It would straighten us up for a piece of time and then we would be right back at it again. You think we would have learned to behave ourselves after awhile. Naw--I don't think so. We were having to much fun and Mom and Dad didn't know what to do with us.

That is such a funny trick - asking the neighbor to catch their running refrigerator! Anyway, as for me, I didn't do that much tricks, but I was already eight years old when my younger sister was born, being a child at that, I could say that I didn't like her that much because I would often ask to help mom take care of her. So I often times just play tricks on her, especially when she started speaking and understanding. I would pick on her and ask her to say sorry to me. Yeah, I was a mean sister before, but my sister and I are the strongest allies now. We're always together, and we're each other's bestfriends. Actually, all of us here in the family are each other's best friends.

Your response is a beautiful response. All family's children have what is known as sibling rivalry. That is all yours was. It was understandable what you did because you were used to being the only child if I understood you correctly. No other brothers and this being the first sister. But as you grew older you became very strong friends as well as sisters. So what you did when you were younger is understandable but it is no longer that way. Family is a wonderful thing to have.

We would do that one as well as
"Do you have a sleeping bag?"
Response was "yes"
"Then better wake it up!"
Phone the same place several time durign the night asking for "norm" and of course he was nto there then around 11 oclock phone the palce adn say "Hi this is Norm MR or Mrs so and so (dpending on who answered phone) said I could get my sick mom or her doctor to leave a messages at this number any messages? I am expecting an important one from my mom or her doctor?
She is very ill right now"
There would be long pauses or peopel would apologise for there mistake we woudl be rolling wiht laughter.
We would also order take out food and get it delivered to other people places call for cabs adn then when they were not there on time call back and ask if they had forgotten us, or call those religous numbers in the paper that would come over and save you we would send them to different places or if you needed to talk to someone have them call back at 3 am to someones elses house.

Yes, I used to make prank calls when I was a kid. My biggest mistake was pulling one on a telephone operator! In a few minutes she was calling our house to lecture me not to do such things! I was so stupid! I think that was the last prank call I ever made.

yes.. haha.. i always play tricks on the phone when i was young.. sometimes i even call the police!!.. and thn maybe if i angry at someone.. i might harass him by calling his house non stop,.. haha.. that's very childish isn't it? my family didn't know about it as i havw 2 phones.. upstair and downstair.. but they can usually check it from the phone bills.. and i'm totally screwed up.. haha... i think it's really funny when you think how you actually get jealous of a person.. and harass them through phones.. and sometimes we even disturb the phone operator.. haha =)

My fav. joke was to get on my hands and knees and start crawling around, when someone would come up and ask what i was doing I would tell the I was looking for my contact lens. They would get down there with me and help me look, when I had 4 or 5 people looking I would get up and stand on the side and watch.
