Within the past 4-6 months I purchased about 3 boxes of mrs. butterworth's pancake mix. I have tried several other types like bisquick, aunt Jemina and hungry jack and I always thought mrs. butterworths was the best. So I decided to buy this indefinately, but about 4-6 months ago I started to use a new box and saw tiny brown foreign matter inside the box and my first thought, it might be a part of the mix, particulary barley to darken the end product. So, I got rid of it and bought a new box, and another and the same bug like particles in the mix. I came to the conclusion that it must have been bugs that got into their stockpile. I heard on the news that the government allow organizations like this an allowance of bugs, feces and foreign particles in our dirty mix of commercially processed bulk foods.
Has anyone experience any such occurrences like this in your mrs. butterworths pancake mix in the few weeks and what do you think about this?

I found the exact same brown particles in a brand new box of Mrs. Butterworth buttermilk pancake mix. Not sure what they are, but I am very disappointed in the quality control. This is the first time I have ever experienced contaminated processed food like this and intend to write the manufacturer and complain. This is totally unacceptable.

Oh My!!
I currently live in Europe and was please to find Mrs Butterworth pancake mix/products on the supermarket shelves.
I opened my new box of Mrs Butterworth and was immediately suspicious and disappointed when I found these brown particles in the pancake mix. of which,I did a quick search online to see whether anyone else may have had similar experiences. I intend to have these specs/particles investigated. If my suspicions deem true Mrs Butterworth Company will be hearing from my people here in Europe. whatever it takes will be conducted.

Hi everyone! My name is Lynn and I work for the company that manufactures Mrs. Buttersworth Complete Pancake and Waffle Mix. I came across this post and wanted to let you know that we are working to resolve the dark specs that you are seeing.
The discoloration is caused by an ingredient that we "dough flavor powder" (it is a combination of dextrose and flavoring ingredients). What happens is that this ingredient has a tendency to form smalls balls within mix - especially when it is exposed to humidity.
Please be assured that what you see is completely safe,in fact, the specs will likely dissolve in water when mixed.
If I can assist you any further, please do not hesitate to contact me at Pinnaclefoodscorp@casupport.com
Thanks!

I found the same thing! little brown dots, similar and consistent in size. When i mixed/whipped it with h20 they seem to melt and dissolved like a very small piece of chocolate in your hand when rubbed together, then it was gone. i doped the mix onto a plate and picked as many of these UFO's UNKNOWN-FOOD-OBJECTS then saved them in a Ziploc bag. i brought the mix @ Walmart (MRS. BUTTERWORTH'S)mix. Also when i went to the same store a week later ALL the mix was taken off the shelf's!!!!
