Well I was just reviewing the Friday box office (I manage a theater, part of the job) and got a bit of a surprise. "The Condemned" starring former WWE wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin finished in an anemic 8th (1.3 million) for the night. I found this surprising because very little else of significance opened and the movie had a substantial advertising push. Critical reviews were pretty bad but this was kind of expected.
Would/have you seen this movie? Is everyone simply treading water till the Spiderman 3 juggernaut hits? The Condemned is certainly not my kind of movie but my dinky little theatre is not a first run house and I have to be careful.

Well, as you know WWE films is just in it's baby years now. I guess it will take them a while to get the ball rolling. I did see "See no evil" and "the marine", I gotta say that they gave Kane a much better role and the movie overall was just like any other horror movie which I guess is pretty easy to do anyway. That was good. The marine, well, I'm a huge fan of John Cena but I feel that the whole movie script could've been better, he did his part well, that's for sure.
I haven't seen the condemned yet, but I'm sure I will and I'll probably like it too, I guess it's just up my alley. I'm kind of in support of wrestlers turned actors, Dwayne Johnson is a fine example of that, so I like to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I don't think we're at a point where we can compare these movies to the blockbusters just yet.
