Do you love to write?

I believe that anyone with the passion for it can become a writer. We all have some sort of "author" inside of us. Whether it's writing about your life or something else it can be done. I've read many books of different genres and I've noticed that not every author has a degree. Some were drop-outs while others just woke up one day and decided to start writing a book. Every book that I've read does not contain proper grammar or any of those other things that are said to be neccessary to include in your writing in order to be considered a good writer. Many people write for the highly educated college grads with any and every type of degree possible, while others may just write for the everyday person. I just write for what I know and I think that's good enough for me and for AC, Constant Content and Triond. I'm not college educated and my vocabulary is that of a regular high school grad that's been out of school for 10 years. I don't write to impress, but to inform and advise. That's the type of writing that I've been doing since becoming an experienced adult in the real world. I feel that my real-life experiences is capable of having a real positive impact on anyone who reads it. I just write for what I know and that's it. For any other aspiring writer out there please don't let anyone tell you that you can't become a writer because we're all writers in our own life. You have to keep trying and keep submitting your work and before you know it you will be able to say that you've had several articles published. Always believe in yourself no matter what others may say. There will always be somebody who will enjoy reading your work.

I was born with the desire to write. I don't know how or where it came about, but I've always had a passion for words and filling up blank sheets of paper. Eventually I became published. I also started a writing workshop and a blog to share my passion for writing. The title of my blog is Buried Treasures. Everyone, no matter what background, has great stories inside of them. You don't have to have advanced degrees or live an exotic life to be a writer. What counts is passion. If you're not passionate about what you write, your readers won't be, either. I love your last line, "There will always be somebody who will enjoy reading your work." That says so much. Thanks.

I don't know how anyone could tell you that you can't write. From this discussion I can tell you write very well. A lot of people don't know a good writer when they see one.

Thanks for the comment. I received some negative feedback on here about my article on AC. The person sent a comment saying that my article didn't flow and the grammar wasn't that good. That's the reason I started this discussion. I'm sure that he's probably giving bad feedback to others on here. I just wanted to write and give writers like myself hope that it's about having that passion for what you're writing. I'm thinking about writing a book of short stories very soon. I just find writing to be my way of expressing who I really am. Not everyone will like who we really are just like not everyone will like what we write. We just can't let that tear down our dream of writing.

In 2003 I moved out of my parents home and decided to go away to college in a different state. I studied business but didn't get too far due to a serious lack of happiness. I dropped out after 2 years and decided to continue life in the real world. Throughout those years I did many things that I enjoyed but writing seemed the most relaxing easiest way to express exactly what I wanted to say. I decided to take it a step further and write music. That was a rush in itself. To this day, I won't go a full 24 hours without writing at least a paragraph to explain or inform others of whatever comes to mind. I love writing!

i love putting words in a composition ever since i was a kid. most of the poems i did were published in our school paper back then. and it felt so great to atleast have someone accept the way you write things. when i reached highschool, i was chosen to be sent to any writing contests... inter school, interprovince, etc. and i love the feeling whenever my name is called saying i won a place. when i reached college, i was more concentrated on my studies... usually, in the field of science since i was taking b.s. in pharmacy back then. but i did not set aside my passion in writing. i kept on writing letters and send them to friends or i write love notes to my boyfriend. somehow, i was able to keep my love in writing alive. for a year now, i had been into blogging... i write about my past, my future, and my present. i write about how i feel. i write about my hurts and my joys. i basically write about my life. and i love the feeling of reading them all back, reminiscing the past and going through my plans in the future. i don't blog to get paid. i just blog online without getting any cent from people who wants to view it. life is too short to lose track of your whole being. instead, i put evrything in my little online journal. i want to share myself to the people. to learn from my mistakes, celebrate with my triumphs and share with my dreams. writing makes me alive. and that's why i love to write!

I do love to write but have gotten away from it since my kids were born. Just didn't seem to have the time. Mylot has really helped me to rediscover the writing bug and I try to post some humorous little pieces but they constantly seem to be ignored which is kind of a pain. Like you, I'm a high school grad who never went to college but have always been a voracious reader and just about everything I need to know I learned from books. I really enjoyed your post BTW, good words of wisdom.

I have 2 kids myself and I do understand how hard it can be to find the time to write. That's how it is for me. I'm thinking about writing a book of short stories so I guess I'll just have to make the time to do that. I try to do all of my writing when my babies take their mid-day naps.

Hehe, i am a writer with published book:-) But i have this professional deformation to give my opinion. Of course, everybody is a talent, but not all of us are talented writers. Excuse me, but this is a gift! If somebody shows me a poem what is talentess and pretends me to stay in awe-i will never do it.I will respect the sincerety of his emotion and entusiasm, but if he/she is just a graphoman-what? Must i lie?

Well your discussion is very well written, I must say. I will have to check out your blog. You do not need a college degree to be a good writer. You need to have the passion and the desire. I don't think there is a college degree for, say, basketball. And I hear there are a lot of people making millions of dollars playing that game. LOL! I don't have a college degree and I have been writing since I was in high school. I got away from it when I had kids but now that the girls are in school all day I have gotten back to writing. I attend a writing group every week. I go to writing workshops and seminars, meet other authors for critiquing and talks. It is quite fun actually. I am so glad I joined the writing group. I have grown as a writer and have made some great friends.

There's no better feeling than writing something you really like. However, I think to be a good writer takes some skill and practice. Not everything I write is worth publishing, and I think that applies to most people. It's like taking photos; you have to take 30 photos to get 1 great picture. I think you have to write a lot, edit a lot, and rewrite to really get something extraordinary. I've spent many years (my career) as an editor, and I can tell you that it is much easier to fix other people's writing than to write something original myself. Writing is a challenge, but I think anyone who loves books will have a desire to create something as good as a book they have read. Not everyone will be able to achieve it, but it can be satisfying just trying.

yep.. i do love writing.. i can write really fast.. and i always have many ideas to write.. i think writing is passion.. everyone can write.. it's just whether you have the patience and the idea to write or not... i doubt if someone will enjoy reading my work.. as my writing really suck.. but as for beginner.. i think i'm average.. i don't really crap that much.. and yes.. i agree with you.. many writers are not college graduates.. writing skills can be developed easily by oneself.. and we don't need a degree to write.. which genre is the best for you? i like to write motivational books =)
