I'm with ya. my dad and i both prefer charcoal over gas. The food has much more taste. We wouldn't get a gas grill even if we could.

My husband uses a huge charcoal grill; we don't like the taste of food cooked on a gas grill. We grill out year round, at least three times a week. Sometimes we soak hickory chips and add them to the fire to smoke the food, or sometimes we'll just cook over wood. We have a fireplace, so we always have wood handy.

Hi sweets. We have both. I like the taste of the charcoal better. But, the gas is easier to control the temp.

Being a singleton I can't be bothered to get out a barbecue .. it all takes far too long and is so much faffing around .. I had two electric grills though .. one is a big George Foreman (won it in a competition) .. and one a small unbranded grill (but just like a George Foreman) .. I can cook just about anything on my 'George' .. vegetables steam very nicely wrapped in a tin foil (aluminium foil) wrap .. meat obviously grills beautifully, mushrooms are juicy and full of flavour ..
Quite often once I have finished cooking the main part of the meal and switched 'George' off .. I will put a banana in some tin foil with a little honey, a few cubes of chocolate and perhaps some strawberries or raspberries .. and just lay that on the grill .. wedge the lid open a little so the fruits don't squish and there'll be enough heat left in the grill as it cools to heat the fruit nicely while I eat my main course ..
Then my dessert is all ready for eating ..

We have both- gas and charcoal. I prefer gas grills because they are much quicker. I don't want to have to wait an hour for a hot dog or burger. We grill out almost every night in the summer- from chicken, steak, pork chops, shish kabobs, to our veggie (corn on the cob), squash, and even baked potatoes. I have eaten food from both charcoal and gaS grills and really don't notice a huge difference. If we have alot of time- my sig. other pulls out the charcoal grill too.

I personally do not grill so I will have to tell you how my husband feels about this, my ex also felt the same way, so it must be a guy thing. But since guys do most of the grilling in my family I can say it's a guy thing. But we prefer charcoal to gas. Gas is convenient, but takes away from the flavor, we like a natural flavor you can only get with a charcoal grill. Charcoal is probably more exspensive to use and maybe messier, but if you want the best in flavor, it's the only way to go. In my opinion that is, others may have different views and I will be looking to see what they have to say. This is a great discussion by the way :)

i prefer charcoal grill as the smoke from the charcoal gives a unique aroma and flavour to the cooked food.
