Is money all that matters in life?

Everywhere around me I see people running for money.They feel money is every thing in life.I have a room mate whom I thought my real friend is just like that.I could not recognise at first but he is somewhat to be my friend for my money.When I knew it I felt very lonely.Is money all the thing in life and ther is no value of other moral things in life like friendship.What doou think?
