Will Harry learn to fight?

In the first book, there wasnt much actualy wizard duels. No feats of strength. Only some mindbending puzzles and dots for Harry and his buddies to connect. Not only that, Snape was still sort of on his side and Dumbledore was alive. And Voldemort was literaly a shadow of his former self. So he had all the help he could possibly want. That didn't change one bit until the fourth book when the Triwizard Tournament came along and the chance for some serios wizardly firepower came along. But we were let down. The most interesting and usefull curse Harry learned was the Summoning charm, and the Four points charm. Thats it? Now we know if Voldemort throws Harry down a well that Harry will know which direction he has to climb, and that he'll be able to get a rope. Whoopy. But what if Volde isnt so nice? Has Harry actualy learned any defensive or offensive spells to help him? He can take wizards wands way. But how can he take at least 10 away at once? And even if some stroke of luck hits him and he does, he still has 10 very angry, very evil people who want nothing more than introduce his liver to the daylight. And Harry has already proven he's no good with the unforgiveable curses. Unless that changed when Dumbledore died, but I doubt that. And my last bit of doubtfullness is Harry's duel with Bella. In the main courtyard of the ministry, Harry and one of Volde's supporters dueled. Was she even one of his strongest? I don't think so. His most cunning? Certainly not or she would have gotten off. Did Harry leave a scratch on her? Maybe a bruise if he's lucky. How will Harry Potter, the straightedge hero of our time defeat a wizard who could kill Harry six ways from sunday if it was just a test of knowlege?

I guess Harry knows a lot of hexes and spells. He was the teacher when his schoolmates started Dumbledore's army. He was able to do the Patronus charm when he was just in his third year, and he doesn't lose his head in a crisis, which is very very important for a fighter. In the fifth book, he is also presented with a new book from sirius to help them learn more spells. I don't think Harry is not strong. There are a lot more spells that can hurt a person without using the unforgivables. But, I think he still has one big flaw to correct himself before he confronts Voldemort. After Snape killed Dumbledore and Harry went after him, Harry could not even make a scratch on Snape because he did not learn Occlumency properly. When your opponent is going to know what curses you are going to use, he will be well prepared to block all your curses. What good is that going to have? In my opinion, Harry badly needs to improve himself and become an adept at Occlumency, otherwise Voldemort is just going to block his curses, however strong they may be.

I hope that he learns how to fight! But when does he not have all the help he needs? Then again in any book who doesn't have all the help that they need?

Have you read all the books? Harry led a whole group of students in teh Defence against the Dark Arts group that they set up themselves, as he was the most experienced. He knows many hexes, charms and blocks and will probably learn a few more in the last book no doubt. Just because not all of the spells go into detail in the books doesn't mean he hasn't learnt aything, he has spent 6 years at magic school remember! And with regard to his fight with Bellatrix, Harry has only known about wizardy since he turned 11, how long has she been a witch for? I think he did very well against way more experienced wizards and witches. It's not just a test of knowledge, but skill as well. harry has a great deal of natural talent so I think he won't have any problems (well no major ones at least) when it comes time to fight Voldemort again :) And he didn't do well at the inforgivable curse before because his heart wasn't really in it, I think now that his greated influence and advisor Dumbledore has been killed, Harry will be more than ready to use the unforgivable curses

Yea, see... I'd like to keep it a mystery... can't wait to know though. You really have a lot of What if questions. WHICH is good actually when you read books. It makes you more involved with the book. But I have a "I don't know" to all those questions. Oh don't look at me like that, I'm just your friend. =P

He did use that forbidden curse... . sure it wasn't that powerful at the time. Maybe he can tone it up a little more. Also there was that one curse that he used on Draco without actually know what it did... .
