Why fighter between two fighter aircraft in air is called a Dogfight?

Has anybody wondered why fight between two fighter aeroplanes is called Dog Fight.

It was originally called a "dogfight" because of the constant circling of the planes in World War One, like dogs trying to get in position for a bite.
