When giving directions, do you rely on street names or landmarks?

It is hard giving directions using street names because you don't see the names frequently. Sometimes the names are dilapidated, sometimes they are hidden behind tree branches which would lead the one you directed to being lost. It is safer to use landmarks as landmarks are never moved. I also use landmarks in giving directions as it is also easier because I remember landmarks more than I remember street names. But in places where there are only a few and indistinguishable landmarks, street names are good alternative.

Yeah, landmark is usually a good way of giving directions. It is easier to remember and see.

i give landmarks 'coz it is much easier to see than the street names..and sometimes street names are hidden or are difficult to see 'coz they are small..

Hi robert,I always rely on landmarks the most. Landmark is a famous and unique building of a place and of course it is easier for us to remember and to see from far by its conspicuous appearance. For me it is rather difficult to remember streets names as some streets in different places having the same name as well.

Hello Ikbooi,
That's true. Streets sometime goes this way and end another way. Usually they asked you for the name of the place and not the street name.

I agree with you on using the landmarks. They are easier to remember and less likely to be missed than street signs.
