I used to read when i was younger, i would spend my wintery days laying on my bed, with a hot chocolate & a new novel most weekends.
I was then in a car accident so reading now is harder coz it gives me headaches but i think reading is very important for kids! I think it helps them to expand their minds, it also help to keep their imaginations going strong.
Well that's what i think anyway!
I used to love readin & pretending i was somewhere else!
It should definitely be encouraged & i have all my old books from when i was a child & i will be encouraging my daughter to read, when she's old enough to read anyway, i'll just continue to read to her for the moment!

Reading does take you into a completely different world . You move into a world much more comfortable , exciting and fulfilling than the real world ! Reading opens your mind .
It increases your neural conections making you mentally healthy and expanding your capacity to learn further . It creates mental stamina !

i used to me an oracious reader earlier, but now life has changed a lot and it doesnot spare much time for it. readig is very essential for the polishing of ones innerself. what you read is a perspective of the author and of course you should draw inferences, judge and form opinions based upon your rationale

Reading books opens your mind. A book can be set anywhere in the world, and it can tell you something about that place. Historical fiction is wonderful, because it sets a fictional character in a real setting at a real time in history and weaves facts about the time and the important events and people, into a fictional story. Space fiction challenges you to use your imagination. Non fiction can be fascinating reading as well, as it again broadens your knowledge. Reading books is one of the most painless methods of learning. You can increase your vocabulary so that when you hear unusual words in a conversation or a job interview, you won't feel silly or left out. Also, it's fun to read a book that's eventually made into a movie because then you can compare the two.
