why don't u try multiplication table in teaching a kid to learn. well, of course the kid must be familiar with numbers first hand. then, teach him/her to learn multiplication using multiplication table. of course u are going to start in small numbers then up. u must always review what they have learn befoe starting a new lesson and emerge the two at the end so that they will remember it easily. you can make it a game for them so that they can enjoy it and the same time, they will also learn. i think one has to be creative in teaching kids. one must find new ways for the children to enjopy the lessons and at the same time learn the lessons well.

ive tried something on the net they have games, but i think that depends on the child on how he's mind absorbs the stuff you say to him and how quick they learn this kind of stuff. I'm teaching an elementary student grade 3 he seems to get lost sometimes. When we talk about it he knows it very well, he could sometimes impress me. The only problem is that he sometimes forgets this stuff later on.

last year, i worked as an assistant pre-school teacher. we had a particular student (an incoming grade 3 boy) who had a hard time learning the multiplication table. so what the teacher ( the one i was assisting) was to used bowls and beads to help the poor boy to learn. the boy would transfer beads to the bowls and he would count them all afterwards.

My 7 year old is now doing multiplication tables at school. I went to itunes app store and purchased a $0.99 app called " Flash Tables " which is a full learning application for children and multiplication tables. It is fantastic and has helped heaps. My daugher is now rising above the other kids in her class with her times tables knowledge.
I don't know how to link directly to the itunes store but here is a link to the flash tables website. definietely worth checking out and excellent value as less than $1.
www.touch.forgameleon.com/education/FlashTables/ or search Flash tables in itunes.
Obviously this is assuming you have an ipod touch or iphone!!! I use it on an ipod touch and my daughter does the test every night before bed and is really enjoying the learning.
