no rock star or any rock musicians running for the politics? Actually, I got this idea from a talk show in a radio station here in the Philippines..theres this listeners thought of this question. Though it not that well thought question but I think it serves a big reason behind it. This makes me realized too... why the hell lots of famous actor and actresses go to politics but why there are no famous rock stars here in the Philippines runs for a government position? Some of the guess in the show say that rock stars are dreamers and don't believe in the system of the current politicians, and if they will run for a position they can't really put there dream in the reality of the politics. I think rock stars are people that has this strong principle and once you are in the politics these principles may get wreck and suppressed by the chaos and dirt of the politics here in the Philippines. Now, as for you (Filipinos or those who can relate) why do you think rock stars don't want to infiltrate the politic scene? do you think they can do change and can do good if they will go for it?

Well, honestly maybe it's because there are not much followers of rock music here in the Philippines and most of rock stars fan are underage to vote so they probably shy away from politics because they don't think their followers would be able to vote and make them win. Just an idea but I don't have anything against rock stars. But yeah, maybe you're right I really don't know any rocks stars here though. Just the regular bands.

maybe, but I think its because politics here are so chaotic and all the "trapos" are around.. which is one of rockers hate.

It would have been better if this discussion is not limited to rockstars, but included other TV or radio personalities. But Oh well... I think the main reason for this is that rockstars often rise to popularity along with their bands. They are less independent than their television counterparts. At the same time, actors enjoy more exposure and name recall than musicians you know only by the sound of the voice or by the title of the song, but not really familiar with the face. At the same time, most bands are really young. It is only recently that bands have gained popularity in the mass culture, when previously only solo singers of love songs and classics ruled.

yeah, I narrowed it down just for the rock musicians only cause I think all singers of different genre have differences. you have a point, they don't have that much popularity compared to actors.

NIce thought, why not. I imagine rock star dreas far different from the politicans and that alone makes the rock star want to stay where they are and would not be interested to join the politics if only for the dress code, lol.

I don't know what to say here, loss. We maybe living in the same country but I was not a Filipino. Yes, I was born here but I was considered an "alien" in the country I was born. Because of that, I never voted even once in my life, LOL. With regards to politics, I think rock stars find politics too serious and deadly. They prefer a different surroundings. Aren't they performers to entertain other people. Seriously, I don't understand why many celebrities decide to enter politics too. Philippine's politics is becoming a fun fare.

yeah, i agree with that, they are performers and they should stay with it.. but why is it actors don't? I know how passionate musicians are and they know how to stick with there specialty maybe that is why no rock musicians go for politics.
