I was sitting here going through all of my responses to my responses , Anyway here I was typing away and thinking how smart I have become as there was not even one spelling mistake , I was showing off to hubby and he was congratulating me , I was thinking to myself that it must be the spellcheck that has improved it , It then dawned on me that I was doing it through AOL and not on FireFox , AOL doesn't automatically show up spelling errors , so Now I am really deflated lol as I am not as smart as I thought I was , And if I have answered any of you and you don't understand it well , I can only apologize , I can't write this for laughing , have a nice day my friends
PS this was done with the spellcheck , xxxxx

I know i really have to go back over posts before I hit the button . But no worries on my end about an apology, I can pretty much read the spelling that isnt quite right. There is so much slang and computer lingo out there we have to learn to read between the lines.I sometimes wish i had spell check on my browser.

How are you now weemam? What did the doctor say about the redness?
You were talking about the spell check in firefox, but have you ever observed that the spellcheck itself makes mistakes. There are many words which are not there in the dictionary of firefox. If I'm doubtful about some word, I look it up on www.m-w.com the best dictionary I've found till date.

We have all made typos. I have made some really silly ones that changed the whole meaning of the post!!
Remember, firefox is our friend!!

Awww, weemam, that's understandable. I can type as fast as I can but I also have lots of typos. It is always my habit to recheck my responses for wrong grammar and typos, before hitting post response. Still, when I checked back, there are some mistakes. I must be getting dizzy and crossed eyes with all the discussions here, LOL@

Spell check can be a great tool but it only looks for spelling. If you make a mistake like got instead of hot, of for or, drop a final vowel like her for here, for from etc. It knows nothing but "Is it a word I recognize?" Can still make you sound lie a dodo if you don't carefully red what you've written.
Once when I was taking my first typing class I got my fingers on the wrong keys in home row. There were no nice bumps back then to know you were in the correct position. I typed away at the practice phrases over and over again. All the while congratulating myself I got through the whole page without glancing once at my keyboard.
What a shock when my finished work didn't look anything like it should. One phrase was:
The cheerleaders checked their coats at the door.
Yjr vjrrt;rsfrtd vjrvlrf yjrtr vpsyd sy yjr fppt. is what I had typed over and over.
I got credit for finger stroke but of course failed spelling.
Trying to increase my speed once I typed the above as The cheetjeeters checked their cotts at the doot.
Oh what funny words can come out. :-)
If you can touch type easily and want to have some fun with the next person who tries to use your work station without asking.... pop the letters off your keyboard and rearrage them. :-)

I belong to gin league and we play in pogo. We all seem to not be able to spell on occasion and so we come up with the word to define that, we call it "typeonese" heck i even got a phd in typeonese. Keep smiling, we al understand typeonese.

That´s a good one, wee. That will show you to always use Firefox, lol. Did you explain all this to your husband when you noticed that you the spelling mistakes don´t show up straight away? Anyway he congratulated you, that´s the most important thing, lol.
Now seriously, I think we can learn a lot through the spell check, once we had to correct the same word about fifty times, at one moment it might actually not show up underlined in red anymore, lol.

I have to admit, the spellchecker on FireFox is possibly the best thing that has ever happened to me! I type rather fast, but I am not always accurate when I type. It's good to have the little red lines pop up in front of me so that I know where my errors are. If you want another laugh, the FireFox spellchecker tags "FireFox" as a misspelling.

haha. .it's funny.. you actually use a spellcheck to ensure that you won't be doing any spelling mistakes? oh.. come on.. it's okay to have spelling errors.. nobody will blame you.. this is a discussion.. just assume as if we're talking with one another.. somehow.. we will have problem in pronouncing some words too right? so.. what's the problem? .. haha.. anyway.. it's really funny for you to have spellcheck.. with your post count.. i assume you have a great typing speed.. unless you're an old member here? how long ago did you join mylot? i believe mylot did improve your typing speed and reduce your typing errors right? :)

thanks for the response charles . I can only type with 2 fingers but yes I have gotten a lot quicker but I still do a lot of mistakes , to be honest it doesn't bother me if people make mistakes or not , I just love to read all of my responses but it does annoy some people as they have written discussions about it , thanks xxx

I fully expect to make spelling errors, I just hope people are still able to decipher what I am on about. I also make more than my shar of typos, so I should get one of those spellchecks, too, for the sake of everyone else!
