hello everybody...so do you think we should get our troops out of iraq and all the other midwestern countries??Do you beleive the united states can really stop terrorism or is it going to be a never ending battle like the battle on drugs?I beleive we have madeour point but now if we pull our troops out many more people will die but right now the terrorist have been making quite a impact by killing people and troops everyday and they have no remorse and are willing to die for their cause..Will this war ever be over or drag on for the next 5 or 10 years? The middle eastern people have been fighting among one another for centuries and it has become part of their lifestyle so are they willing to change a lifestyle habit?what do you think?i think they will not,it's like they enjoy fighting and killing, and they have alot of experience in making bombs which is mainly killing the majority of people..so who do you think is supplying them with all the chemicals and money and supplys to keep their war going?? i think we need a new president ..president bush has done some good things but i think he has done more damage than good to our american economy and he probably has been the costliest president we have ever had in US history..what do you think??i feel for all the families that have lost loved ones because of this war,we just had a funeral here in willmar,mn for a national gaurd that had 14 days left of his tour, and a roadside bomb killed him,he left a wife and a daughter behind..so many other stories like this one that is the most cost of this war, american wifes, husbands, sons, daughters more dieing the longer we stay there,so voice your opinion on this topic?what do you think we should do keep fighting or bring our troops home?voice everything you think should be done concerning the war??thank you..

Stallion 1,
not wanting to be to naive, but I think tha answer to your question is rather simpel: it all depends on if we learn from the past 4 years OR we choose to continoue our course of action without a cost benefit analysis.
What do you think?

That is the whole point: starting wars can not be and should not be about winning and losing anymore.
It should be about goals. As a society we have to be aware of consequences: we can't just invade countries and than leave. What is the whole point of starting the war?
Besides, in terms of casualties, 3000 is not really to high. Just compare that number to WWII and Vietnam. Don't get me wrong, I am a pacifist and generally oppose any violance. Yet as a developed nation with substantially greater knowldge and civilization, we bear a responsbility to advance the ultimate goals of democracy.
Remember, greatness comes at a cost.
