Why do people not believe in God?

I believe some do believe in God yet don't show it because they fear God. For the one's who do not believe in God at all well hmmmm......very good question and I would like to know the answer also.....

God is one,religion many,different religions pray GOD in different ways,all the people believe God,when people dont get want they want in life then they say they dont believe in God,once they get want they want in life they again start believing in God

how can you say that all people believe in god, my comment above yours state quite the opposite, and you can't say i only don't believe because i don't have what i want, because i can assure you i have everything i want in my life, and none of it is down to "your god" or any other form of "god". my son is a product of me and his father not "god" my home and it's contents are a product of me and the way i have lived not "god"... please do not generalise about all peoples beliefs, it is insulting!

i do not believe in god in any shape or form, and this has nothing to do with organised religion...
as to HOW i can i not believe, that's simple; i cannot believe in something that would allow for the human race to suffer for no apparent reason, by this i do not mean suffering through wars and human to human cruelty, but by famine, pestalence and disease.
in countries that are discribed as "third world" where men women and children die from famine, AIDS, and general lack of everything they need to survive, where is this so called god? nowhere!
my question to you would be how could you believe in such fiction?

I imagine people come from all walks of life and suppose not everyone is raised with the knowledge of God. Growing up in my family well they were not into discussing God at all. The only time I had God introduced to me was when I'd stay
with my Gramma in the Summers. Even though she went to church each Sunday God was not really discussed in the home. When my Gramma gave me my first Bible I was maybe 5 years of age and could not read it yet I tried :) as I got older I kept trying but found it very hard to understand. I'am lead to believe that before we were born we knew God first and that He is with us.
Choosing a religion is hard to do too as they have so many views.......how can there be so many differences when we have One God? Like I have said before I like the saying "What Would Jesus Do?" I believe God and Jesus are pure goodness and try to do what I believe they would want me to do. :)
