I've just registered one of my dogs for his first show. He's to attend in two weeks time, I hope he does really well. Obviously I'm biased but I think he's so gorgeous and perfect he just has to do well.

I agree with BreePeace. . if you've never handled a dog in a show before you might want to see about a handling class beforehand. Knowing what is going on ahead of time will help you do better and you will appear more courteous to your fellow exhibitors.
Plus, many times the difference between first and second depends on the skill of the handler presenting the dog.
Before you go, practice stacking your dog on a table and having someone check his teeth and get him used to being touched so you won't be excused for biting the judge!

Hiya, I've been practicing with the ironing board to get him used to standing on a table. So far he hasn't bothered with anyone touching him or looking in his mouth so hopefully he'll be fine with the judge. I thought a little dog would be easy to show but it seems they're just as difficult as a larger breed but in different ways.

Obviously he's a chihuahua, are you going to show him yourself?
If you've never shown a dog before it may be advisable to try to see if you can take him to one handing class before show weekend if they're available in your area. Watching a dog show, it appears very simple, but there's a lot more involved than meets the eye. :)
best of luck!

Yep, I'm showing him myself - I'm going to be so nervous!
I went to a show on Saturday to check out the competition but there were no chihuahuas there so it wasn't much help.

Yes, I'll let you know. Everyone's been so kind wishing me luck. Think I'll need lots.

I have two pedigree dogs, but it never occurred to me to register either one of them for a dog show. I hope your dog does well and I would love to hear about how this experience is from a first time attendee.
