There is a lotion called Palmers Lotion. It is made from cocoa butter and it worked for me. That has been years ago but I know they still sell it at my local Dollar General Store. I still purchase it to use on my feet in winter. Another thing that I have heard works..Note that I have not tried this myself, Is Olive oil. The kind that you use to cook with. It is great for softening skin too. This I do know from experience. Good luk to your friend.

My personal opion on it is they are there for a reason I have stretch marks and I am proud of mine because its a part of me with out a surgical procedure she will have to rise above them and look at them as marks of good things not bad you have to like the way you look who cares what the world says You see pregnant women wear 2 piece bathing suits because they are proud to be who they are so that is the advice to your friend love them GOD gave you them for a reason conquer that and other things may start to get better for your friend.Good luck

I have to agree with a few others that Coco Butter is the best to use for them. It won't get rid of them completly but it will fade them. If you want you can buy a stick of it, it looks like a stick of butter to be honest. If you are going to buy a lotion look at the ingredients and make sure that Coco Butter is near the top. Some will say they are a coco butter lotion but they only have a small amount in. The higher it is in the ingredients the more there is.

When I got pregnant, I search on some information on how to avoid having stretch marks. I found some articles saying to put oil with vitamin E on your stomach and to those parts stretch mark would show and to eat a lot of peanuts. that article explained that during pregnancy, the body becomes bigger of course but it becomes even more drier. so, they say peanuts and vitamin E helps with the skin not to get dry. Lucky for me, after my pregnancy, I didn't have any stretch marks on me. For your friend who is not even pregnant and is still young, first she needs to find the right weight for her. Control how she eats and what she eats, those sorts of stuff. And at the same time try not to let her skin become dry and flaky. Stretch marks are difficult to remove but if she is really serious of getting read of it. She can...

Hi Sweet Gaby, well I do hope that this can help in regards to your friend who wants to help her friend here in regards to stretch marks!! First, I would consider making an appointment with a dermatologist to discuss treatment. Most approaches have proven to be only modestly effective, but there are some things she may be able to do to improve their appearance. The dermatologist may prescribe tretinoin cream (commonly known by the trade name Retin-A), alone or in combination with other creams. Also new studies have shown that applying 0.1 percent tretinoin cream may help with stretch marks. In one study, the treatment reduced the length of the stretch marks by 14 percent and the width by 8 percent. In another study, it decreased the length by 20 percent. Laser therapy is another option if you're looking to improve the appearance of stretch marks after delivery. a surgeon can use different types of lasers depending on the color of the stretch marks. One type reduces the color of dark stretch marks while another stimulates the production of pigment-making cells in already faded stretch marks. A newer type of laser therapy can be used to stimulate the production of collagen and help restore the skin's elasticity in depressed stretch marks. It's unlikely that your health insurance plan would cover such cosmetic procedures. So if you decide to go this route, you'll probably have to pay for the consultation and any treatments out of your own pocket. Hope this can help your friend. xx

Honey I wish I had some good advice for you but I tried nearly every remedy that you can think of and the only thing that helped was putting on weight (and I didn't try to do that!) Sounds like she has lost weight very quickly! Sorry I had nothing for her to try! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

She won't be able to get rid of them. She just has to let them fade on her own. Once you get them, they are there for good and they usually fade with time.

I used to use Johnsons baby lotion to prevent stretch marks, I don't know if it would help get rid of them. Any lanoline based cream should help. Don't listen to the adverts for expensive creams, they're usually not very good.

Hugs to you friend. My daughter has never been pregnant. She is slender and little underweight and has some stretch marks on her hips. She gave up trying to get rid of it. I used to apply vitamin E oil to my stretchmarks and took vitamin e orally. The marks remained the same for all those years. I still take vitamin e, c, a and Bs. My stretch marks are now less noticeable. Perhaps it worked, I really don't know. Anyway, at this age I'm not bothered by them.

When I was pregnant, many years ago, I was advised to use cocoa butter lotion on my stretch marks. They will never go completely but the lotion certainly helped, so that might be a good idea to try

Hi gabs. I was gonna say Palmers too and gain weight. If she has tried some remedy for that, and still keeps on getting it, I'd advise a dermatologist. It might be that is caused by food intake? Or perhaps there's some hormone thing going on that would easily be remedied by the right medical treatment? How old is she? Any one in her family having the same condition? Thanks and have a great day! Hope you'll find a cure. Do update us.

gabs, I've been reading what you've been posting about your friend and I hope you won't mind me chiming in with something unrelated to stretchmarks but more directed to her weight (btw, as others have said, I've been told that you can't actually get rid of stretchmarks... they fade to white/very pale but they're still there :( darn things!). Anyway, like your friend, over the past few years I seemed to keep gaining weight. No matter what I was doing, what I was eating, what type of exercise, nothing was working! I then started to experience terrible swelling in my legs (to the point that the skin stretched so tight that it HURT!). I asked my doctor for help and her advice was "stop eating"... she feels that we, as adults, eat WAY more food than we need. However, I didn't find that the least bit practical (especially having a family around me to feed). A colleague of mine recommended the South Beach Diet (she even bought me the book from amazon.com and had it shipped to my house!). It was created by a cardiologist and, since I also have hypertension, I decided to read it. I've been following the plan for about 8 weeks and have lost 18/19 pounds so far. It's all about blood sugar and how the body uses and breaks down the food we consume. I discovered that a lot of what I thought was good for me, just isn't. I was eating healthy food - but the wrong KINDS of food for me personally. I don't usually advocate things like diet plans but this one is doing it for me. The swelling in my legs is GONE and I'm feeling quite well. If nothing else, it's not an expensive book and you can also find information online. Perhaps it would help your friend too. I feel bad for her because she is very young and here I sit at 42, still trying to get this in control. I wanted to share the information with you, just in case it might help her. I wish her well!! :)

I can definitely empathise with your friend though at least in my case I have beautiful 9 year old twins to blame for mine, so I guess I should be thankful really. They say that you can get laser surgery to remove stretch marks but I have no idea how much it costs or whether or not your friends wants to take such drastic steps. If you do a search on your favourite search engine, it will give you hundreds of pages with 'remedies', all I can suggest is that she goes through them, trying as many as she can to see if she can find one that suits her. I think a lot of it is to do with genes/skin type etc, so what works for one person, may not for your friend. Sorry, I can't be of any great help.

As far as I know there is no way to get rid of them, but they usually fade with time and with the sun. I have heard of some kind of laser-surgery - however that is also very expensive. When I gauin wight I also had streth marks that stayed even after loosing the weight. They are not as visual today though - as they were a year ago.

The only thing I have heard of that is supposed to work is cocoa butter. I used it but is so long ago I cant remember how much and how often but knowing me I probably slathered it on. I guess it must have worked because I dont have any stretch marks. It also work great to give a really nice tan when used in the sun.

I've heard that only red stretch marks fade but if they are white or clear(like mine) that they are permanent but I would try Mederma. Its for scars to help reduce the intensity of them so if they can work for scars it can work for anything.
