Do you like M. Night Shyamalan's movies?

He became one of my favorite writers/directors when I watched the Sixth Sense. Then there was Unbreakable, which wasn't really happening for me. Signs was different, not good or bad, but just different (all the world's being invaded by ailens and no ailens are shown). And then the Village; some liked it, some, including myself didn't. And most recently I watched the Lady In the Water which unfortunately was a fiasco for me. I'm still planning on following his releases though. What's your take on this gifted director and what do you think of what some consider missteps?

I love Sixth Sense. It was fantastic. But not all movies of Shyamalan were upto that level. Sixth Sense was simply marvelous.

Dear Zalvor,I actually like M.Night shyamalan's movies but he will never be my favourite because his movies are sometimes dull and boring although it challenges the mind. I will like for him to put some excitement in the movies and for him to pace his movies more quickly. He should take audience entertainment value into consideration more and he should not be too focused on making a movie that stands out.

I am a fan of M. night Shyamalan`s movies, I have seen all is movies less Lady in the Water, all of them had something that i liked, the supernatural theme in Sixth Sense, the superhero and comics vein in Unbreakable, the aliens in Signs or the mystery and suspense in the Village, they had all great premises, even the slow pace narrative, so typical in his films has grown on me.

I enjoy some of his movies. First I saw was probably Unbreakable. I saw that in cinema. I got a bit bored but I guess it was OK. Not that great. I havn't watched it since though. Sixth Sense was pretty cool. I have watched it about 7 times but I don't think i could watch it again and again. I liked Signs - that was a good film. Only seen that one once though. I would like to get that one on DVD.. As for Village - i fell asleep. I did not enjoy it - and I don't plan on watching it again in a hurry. I havn't ahd the chacne to see Lady in the Water yet but i hope to soon... even tohugh I heard bad feedback about it.

I have always avoided the Lady in the water, cause I feared that it would be no good. Now I see that my fears are confirmed! Never saw Signs as I don't like Mel Gibson. But later found out that I loved anything with Joaquin Phoenix, so I may have to watch Signs eventually. I loved the Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, which both starred Bruce Willis, I believe. Unbreakable is suspenseful and evil and fun and amazing all rolled up into one! I could easily watch it once a week. You have to watch it more than once to catch the nuance of what is going on. And you can't really watch his films when they first come out or you will end up being disappointed. That's what happened with Unbreakable. Once I watched it a second time three years after release, I found that it was way better than the first time. I loved the Village until the last fifteen minutes when they revealed the secret of the Village and then I wanted my money back! LOL! I think the director has some definite hits with the first two movies mentioned, but later gave into Hollywood pressures and started making movies that he thought would be scary. As opposed to letting the story speak for itself, he often goes for scripts that spell things out. I don't like that so much. Much prefer the psychological suspense horrors of his earlier films, like Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. Thanks for the interesting post and chance to talk about one of my favorite writer/directors.

He's not my favorite but I must admit that his movies are interesting. I hate to watch horror movies but I liked Sixth Sense because although it had the surprise tactics, the twist was just so good. I also liked The Village. The Lady in the Water was a bit different, I don't know where will the story go but in the end, I must say that the good thing about the movie was it was unpredictable. I'm looking forward to The Happening (hope I got the title right) and see what the twist would be.

I haven't seen Lady in the Water, and probably won't since the reviews weren't too great. I liked the Sixth Sense, but much preferred Unbreakable. After that, as far as I'm concerned, it's been dowhill all the way. The Village promised more than it delivered in terms of suspense, and Signs was just plain ridiculous. I hope Shyamalan eventually gets back on track, but I can't see him ever being one of my favorite directors.

Yes! I like his work. "The Village" was particularly good...it contained every element of a good mystery-horror, was well cast, and well acted. I also loved "The Sixth Sense". The twist at the end was so hard on me that I actually gasped. Not many movies do that for me, and I like it!

I am a fan of M. Night Shyamalan's work. He's got talent and a lot of potential. I think that quite of bit of the material he comes up with is different and unique in its own way. It's fun to watch, in my opinion.
