Marking best responses

I find this exhausting! Maybe because I have to make a choice & some of them are actually pretty hard! I've done about half of mine, but I'm going to wait on the recent ones because I like to get the best choices I can - unless one just jumps out at me.
Do any of you put off marking them because you find them so tiring to do, re reading them, deciding which one is best.
And how do you decide which one is best? I know that there are some that I chose because I found them just that tiny bit more amusing than the other one I might've chosen. Some because they have sparked a conversation with the writer & myself. What's your take on best responses?

I decided I would go to the ones taht are the oldest first and try to pick the one that seems to promote more responses. I also like to pick ones that are really on the subject of the discussion. I also find I like humorous and informative responses. If I have a month old discussion with just one responder that person gets it as I have waited long enough. I agree with you though, I really don't like doing it.

Sounds like I'm probably doing this right then, I am not the best at picking winners in a subjective game... I have some that have no responses & I worked hard on them, movie reviews sort of things. I have one that I'm not going to pick, because maybe a few months down the road I might get someone to read it & give me a nice response (the other response was a posting style response.)

yes, it will be wise to go through first the oldest ones. thank you for this reminder, tess. there are times when i find it quite taxing to make responses when i see my discussions are piling up with ones which i must comment on. thus i don't post many discussions of my own.

choosing which one of the responses to mark as the best is not an easy task. usually, there are a number of good ones and, i find it hard to make up my mind, too. anyway, just keep on and mark the ones that suits you best. i am sure that no one will be offended if his/her response didn't get to be lucky enough to have been chosen. what counts most, it the fun we have while communicating with each other around here.

It is really hard because usually those persons that belongs to the first people who commented and have good remarks are the one who are marked for best response but later on you found out that there is still good one. Hmmnn..i think i got some solution for here, why not leave your discussion for a week then after that do the marking for the best response.

I have been mostly leaving them almost to over a month to mark them. I try & do it on a weekend when I can come at it fresh without being over tired from working & stuff. I was supposed to be doing a lot of it yesterday, but instead spent another 4 HOURS dealing with getting the cat ready for adoption instead. This, on top of the 8 hrs between the vet visits in the morning & the adoption time in the afternoon on Sat!

marking the best answer is so hard to do because youve got to read each response and sometimes rereading it and then sometimes you just mark the best response then after sometime when you come visit your discussion someone respond that you think is better than the first you had mark best. difficult right?
me, i mark the best response which i think is humorous, related to the subject, did his way to really respond to my discussion, honest in his opinion, and kind. takecare.

You are right. It is not that easy marking the best responses. That's one reason I introduced the virtual medals. When I need to mark them, I just open all the pages and look for the medals. Then I read the several answers that have received the best medals and mark it there. So much simpler.

Yup! me too. that is why i don't start much of new discussion lately. I don't really want to rate and go back to previous discussions. all i want to do here at mylot is to post a lot an earn alot of money. To be honest, I have made a few discussions but never rated someone as best response. I also have a few response that is why it is hard to chose. In fairness, i do rate them positive. Goodluck!

I do mark a person's discussion according to the ideas and if the discussion is relavant and knowledgable.Because it is shameful if you mark a discussion that is not deserving enough to get a best response remarks.I do mard best response even though if the discussion disagrees my topic or whatever as long as it is very relevant and a quality discussion among the responses.

Sometimes i just choose who responded first. if the answer really pretty much the same. Sometimes I look for good answers and just chose the one i think is best. Sometimes if i cant decide I will see if there is someone who doesn't have many best responses and choose them. it just all depends on the situation.

Maybe I am not good at make a good post that lead to many response.
so it is easier for me to choose a best reponse as only a few reponse for every post.

As no one can tell me what are best responses, I don't want to worry myself too much about it. I just give responses to those topics that I have something to talk about. My responses may sound good to others sometimes, might make you feel boring or may displease others....I don't know. But I just give my sincerity and honesty. And when I read other people's responses that have helped solve my puzzles or just sound reasonable, complete and clear, I give them "best responses".

When marking best responses I pick the one that I feel is the best response. I don't worry about what others think is the best response. There is no wrong way to choose a best response. :)

I mark my best responses as soon as I reach ten comments because I don't want to have to read so many it is just too much. Yes it does take so much time.
If I don't get 10 response in about a week I will give out best response based on what I have.
I have two methods I use. If one answer really stands out. I see the person put a lot of thought into it, or it appeals to my heart in some special way that one gets best response.
The other method is if there are several that are very good, I take the first good one, or I try to get a new person to my lot to give them a break and encourage them.

It's really hard to choose a best response especially if you get a lot of quality responses. Not because they are tiring, but because there are a lot of insights from here and there and you try to look for one that has it all. I like responses that are sincere, realistic and sticks to the topic. Sometimes I like to choose 2 best responses. I hope they're going to allow it soon because we have very good posts that are really worth choosing. Nevertheless, I rate everyone who responds to my discussions with a positive rating, so they are also rewarded in some way. :)

erm.. same here.. i find that marking best response is really hard.. and i don't even know if anyone going to post again after i mark.. so how could i choose the best one? i think the best is not to mark.. but be active in your discussion.. don't leave it hanging... people posting and you're creating other discussion.. this is really bad.. i think it doesn't really matter who got the best response.. what most important is.. you get the solution that you want.. that's the purpose of having a discussion right? it's okay for me not to be the best.. as long as i tried my best to help :)

Usually the best response jumps out at me. It might be because there was a chemistry, or it might be because all of a sudden the one response generates a load of commens and really improves the quality and texture of the discussion.
If all of the responses are similar and nothing really jumps out it gets a little harder. At that point I would probably choose someone who normally answers a lot of my discussions because they are a familiar 'face'.
