Well here is my issue. My bestfriend of 12 years is finally having her first baby and it is a boy. Well when I had kids I had girls. An of course as you know I am now the proud Auntie as well as the one who is giving the baby shower. I need some ideas of games to play, things to discuss, meal ideas, and also what type of items that are unique for a boy. I am very happy for her and I want to make her baby shower as good as possible. Please every mother out there if you read this please help me out so that I can make this good for her. Lately, she has been under alot of stress being that she works two jobs and her car is on the blink. So just tell me whatever you think can help me out with this.

A fun game we played was called "my water broke" We bought these tiny plastic babies at a craft store and froze them in ice cubes, then everyone got one in their drinks, and the first ones whos baby comes out of the ice cubes yells "my water broke" and they would win a prize. For my sisters baby shower mom bought little sandwich buns and made egg and ham salad sandwiches and had a veggie tray with dip. We did a word scramble as a game also...bottle---telotb and whoever unscrambled the most would win a prize. We filled a bottle with jelly beans and had them guess how many were in the bottle. hope these help :)

First of all i convey my heartly wishes to the new born baby. I really love babies and like to play with them as well. For the new born baby you can murmerring some words to her, so that she will also reply with some unknowing words. And you can buy new toys with different colors and show to her, she will show her beutiful smile to you. All the very best and enjoy as well.

My sister's baby shower was yesterday, so I have some ideas for you. We played a fun game, everyone had a baby safety pin on thier lapels, if you said the word "baby" and someone caught you, they could steal your pins, whomever had the most pins, won a prize. We also played a game where they filled a diaper bag full of diapers, and everyone had to guess how many diapers were in the bag. (of course the mother to be got all the diapers and the bag!) we played a game where we had to guess the flavor of baby food, some people do it different ways, I have done it where you were allowed to taste it, and another where you could only look and smell it. IT's actually quite difficult, and most people enjoy that game. ALl of the prizes for the games, were actually presents for my sister. IT was a great shower. THe food was wonderful, we had little sandwhiches, and a veggie tray, and then instead of the traditional cake, we had cookies, brownies, cupcakes and she also had a fruit tray with strawberries, bananas etc, and fondue chocolate to dip it in. IT was great. I'm sure whatever you do, your friend will enjoy her shower.

For the desserts I will consider the cookies and the brownies. I also like the finger sandwiches idea. I know that she loves fruit and the cupcakes sound good to me, too. Thanks for the ideas they are really helping me in pulling this thing together.

I didn't have a baby shower, i'm not much of a social butterfly or anything so don't have alot of close friend - unless you count my pen pals but very few of them are even in the same country as i am.
I bought a gorgeous gift for a friend's little girl & it comes in both pink & blue - made by Russ, it's a piggy bank, which is a white ceramic pig with Baby's first Piggy bank (in either pink or blue) - she loved it coz it was something her daughter could keep forever! Another friend sent me a teddy rattle for my daughter & the teddy was wearing a bib that had my daughter's name & date of birth stitched on to it - something very special!
Maybe you could find a mechanic & have everyone invited to the shower pitch in some cash to fix her car - it might not seem like a lot but i would be really grateful for something like that - especially if i had to worry about if the car would get me to the hospital or not - LOL!
You could always go to eBay & find someone that does embroidery - i have seen heaps of people who embroid pictures, names & birth dates which would make a nice & personalised gift for someone special!

Congrats to you and your best friend. Having a new baby is always exciting. Okay here are some games that I have played when having or going to a baby shower. One game is a game of testing the memory. You place a bunch of baby items (nail clippers, burp rag, diaper, safety pins, nose plunger, jar of food, bottle, pink,...etc.) on a tray. Keep the tray covered until time to play the game. When you want to play you have everyone sitting around, you uncover the tray and slowly walk it around so that everyone gets a chance to look at what is on the tray and they are not allowed to start writing down what is there until everyone has gotten a chance to look. You cover the tray and give them like 2 minutes to write down as many as they can. Who has the most items (correct items, that are actually on the tray), wins. Okay, also there is the name game, as guest enter the house, you give them a card with their "name" on it, except the names are names of baby items or brands...for example, my name at the last baby shower I attended was gerber. You can make some really funny ones up with this game, one guest was names brea st pump and that is what people had to call her..Okay first I should have told you that you give out large safety pins when handing out the "name" cards, you can place blue beads on them since your friend is having a boy. Also maybe tie a little bit of blue ribbon to them. Every guest gets one and if someone calls another guest by their real name, they lose their safety pin to whoever it is that calls them out on calling a person by their real name. At the end of the party, whoever has the most safety pins wins a prize. This game gets a lot of laughs and is great fun. Also, another game is the game where you place a lot of the little tiny safety pins into a large bowl or bucket of dried rice. You have one person at a time dig for safety pins (with eyes closed)...for like 30 seconds or whatever you decide. Who gets the most, wins. This is harder than it sounds. Okay and the last one that I can think of if the baby food game. Remove the label from about 10 jars of baby food. Make sure you put numbers on the bottom of the jar and keep a list of what they are before you remove the labels so that you will know the correct answer for sure. You pass the jars around the room and the guest are to write down the food they believe to be in the jar. They are not allowed to open them. Whoever has the greatest number correct, wins. Well good luck and I hope these help. Have fun!

Hello
We did who has the poopy diaper. You make a bunch of diapers and put a brown mark in one. You pin them to people when they come in the door, at the end they all check. You just make them out of paper..pretty easy.
Also we did draw the baby. You get small paper plates and you put them on your head and draw the best baby you can while on your head. The mommy to be picks the best one. Everyone had fun with this one.
You also could get lots of boy socks and hide them all over the house(whever you want of course) and people have to find the matching pair. Who ever has the most matching wins. This one is fun and gets people talking and helping each other out.
Food we just did the normal stuff...sandwiches, veggies and dip and pizza rolls and stuff like that.
Don't worry about things so discuss as everyone will go with the flow. By the time you finish eating, playing games and gifts it will be time to go.
For mine they put these cute little blue bear tooth picks in the sandwiches and fruit...so cute. I kept one for my baby book
Oh sorry one more thing I loved was they put a picture of me on the cake when I was a baby. It was cute. Most stores do this..You just take them a picture.
Good lulck :)
