After about 4 months of looking and having numerous interviews I finally got offered a position. And I think I will really enjoy working there which is a bonus! It's also closer to home and a little bit more money!
I have 2 weeks left at my old job before I can start :)
Thank you to everyone who gave me any interview tips/advice and well wishes!!

Well done and congratulations juicemilk and hope you enjoy it. What type of work will you be doing? Having it closer to home is a huge benefit on its own as travelling too far can be so draining!

I'm the new franchise administrator for a nationwide company :) So I get to deal with people as well as do work on my own.
And yes travelling can be annoying, especially when you're happy that work is finished...but then it still takes you ages to get home before you can really relax

Congratulations juicemilk, and it was well worth the wait through those very painful 4 months. This new job sounds like it will be right up your alley too, not to mention the advantages. For a start it will cost you less in both money and time to get to and from work, plus of course the additional income you will get from your new employer.
I am very certain that this last week at your old job will just drag for you, but I am also sure that you will cope knowing that it is nearly at an end. You will have to keep us updated on how the new job is going, although I guess it will take you a couple of days to find your way around everything.
At the same time, you have a positive outlook, the job is something that you will enjoy, and the benefits are just the icing on the cake, so to speak. No doubt from time to time you might miss the people you were friendly with at your old place. That is just a passing phase though and you will get over it soon enough. LOL
Good luck juicemilk and I am confident that all will go well for you in your new endeavours, plus that you will be very happy there.

Oh yes juicemilk the first couple of weeks in a new job can be fraught with traps for the unwary. All those people who want your attention, want to know all about you, see if you have any "political alliances" within the company and so on. And to make matters worse, the learning new ways that things are done.
Now, having said all the bad points, there are many good ones and they will far outweigh the others. Enjoy your last week at work, spend as much time as you can here racking up the miles and we will understand not seeing you around. Just pop in here when you can to tell everyone how the new job is going and that you are surviving.
Good luck dear friends, and I wish you all the very best for a wonderful time in the new job.

Thanks ossie :)
To make it worse, this week has been really quiet at work, so it's even more boring than usual! But at least it's giving me a bit of time on here, I don't think I will get much internet time at my new job lol
I'm excited but nervous about starting next week, I always hate the first week or so, when everything is new and you feel stupid lol

Congrats.
How did the resignation letter go?
Closer to home means more money anyway, as it is less money to spend on petrol or public transport.
If it is a better position, or you will enjoy it more, even better.
Good luck, and I hope you are happy there.

Thanks :) And yep I get a cheaper bus ticket woohoo!
The letter went good, I just did it very short, as I'd already told my boss I was leaving, she was a bit disappointed but congratulated me anyway :)

I have had to accept a formal resignation from someone, but they had not told me that they were leaving, just 'plonked' the letter on my desk.
At least you told them about it before hand.

Well congratulations are in order and it seems that the wait was worth it. Closer to home will make it easier for you not having to commute every day. The little bit more money is always a great thing, and maybe you will get a review after you have been there for 6 or 12 months.
See that this discussion is now some 3 weeks old, so you will have started the new job by now. It might take a little while to settle down, but well worth it when you consider the extra benefits. It is always good if you enjoy where you are working and does make the time pass a little faster. Nothing worse than being in a job that you dislike as the day just drags. Good luck and hope it all goes well for you.

Congragulations on the new job. By now you are probably working at it. Because as of this discussion you said you had two more weeks to work at the old job. It is great if you have a job that you enjoy. It makes it so much easier to go to work. I have a job also that I enjoy tremendously. It is right in the same city I live in so that makes it even better. So congragulations and wish you many days at your new job.
