London Police Call in the Fashion Police for Makeover

The uniform of the British "bobby" is famous throughout the world, but it's in for a fashion makeover. Apparently it's uncomfortable and not terribly practical, so the police force has enlisted the help of students from the London College of Fashion to help redesign the uniform for today. One item under review: reassessing the bell-shaped helmets, which are made of cork and which have a hab it of falling off then the officers take off running in pursuit of a suspect. "Members of the public, police officers and the Metropolitan Police Authority will be asked for their opinions on the new design, and a group of 50 male and female officers will test it, police said."
