i usually experience this situation when im calling for a taxi to fetch me at my house. the "hold" takes too long and their on-hold music makes me nauseous. soemtimes, when im in a good mood, i put up with it, but when im in a real hurry and im in a sour mood, i hang up and just look for a taxi near my house. what about you? do you hang up the phone when you're put on hold?

If I am in a hurry, being put on hold is one of the things that really riles me. Worst yet, is when they put on that awful music. I immediately think that I am going to be in limbo for a very long time, because they feel they have to entertain me the wait will be so long.
I really like those businesses that say, "Your wait time will be more than x number of minutes. If you don't wish to wait that long please press the 1 key then enter your telephone number and we will call you back when it is your turn. You will not lose your place in line." How great is that? Why doesn't everyone do it? It just makes so much sense. Your customers or clients can go about their business, and you know that you have made their day, rather than p'ing them off.

I usually don't hang up when I'm on hold, especially if it's for something really important. If I'm sort of in a hurry or if it's just taking ridiculously long though to get through, then I sometimes do hang up and then try back again later when I think they might be less busy.

If I am left on hold for too long. Than yes I will hang up. There was one time I was hold for close to an hour. I would normally hung up but it was a very important phone call and had I hung up and tried calling back later I could have had to go back to the end of the line of people waiting to speak with someone. So there is no telling how much longer I would have had to wait had I hung up.
