Good Movie, Bad Musical?

I always wonder what makes producers try to turn a successful work from one medium into another medium--like turning 1970s TV shows into full-length movies. The trend now seems to be to turn movies into Broadway plays or musicals. The musical "Legally Blonde" just opened on Broadway, to bad reviews. And "Spider-man" in coming to Broadway too. Sometimes it works, though; "The Lion King" has been a smash on Broadway. I can't see shelling out $100 to see a Spider-Man play or musical, though.

I hate it. Thankg-d I usually have or I can rent the original version of the movie. And then there is the re-make of a re-make.The producers is a movie that was made into a musical for Broadway. And then is made into a movie with the cast of the Broadway musical.Hairspray is another. I have both original versions on VHS so if I want to see it , I'll see the original thank you.

Some works have been re-made so many times it's hard to tell which is the original source material.

Yes. You see your version and then you find out it was re-made 6 or 7 times before your version. My first is my original. I have tried earlier versions , but I usually like the first version I saw. That is why I don't usually try the re-make.

I heard Bono was writing music for spiderman, should be interesting...and i just have to say that if they ever decide to turn Miami Vice into a musical, there is no way on the face of the earth that it could be any worse than the film...it was just AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL! I couldn't sit through the whole thing, and I wouldn't even if you paid me!...and I'll never get those 2 hours of my life back! lol

Yeah, the thing about Bono, I heard that. And that Julie Taymor is involved too (who did Lion King on Broadway). These two seem to have good judgement usually, so maybe Spidey The Musical has a chance.
