I love Cooking but i Cook Bad,Why???

I love cooking . But i am not a good cook. Is there a way through which i can be a good cook. Any guidelines to be followed to be a good cook.Everytime i cook the recipe is not good even if i follow the same recipe book as my friend does but i end up not cooking something good but she does the same dish and does it well,Why???? Can anybody help me with it.

you need a constant practice. what do you mean it always comes up bad? for example is it too salty or too sweet? tell me the recipe and the result and i might give you some assessment why...

Hi! I also started as a bad cook :p My husband used to tease me that he will eat anything else except two particular dishes that I experimented with during the early days of our marriage. But I persevered because I hated it when he praises the dishes his mom and his sister cooks. I started learning by trying out simple recipes first (those with few ingredients) and kept cooking them (of course wait until a week or so before repeating) until I got the taste right.
Sometimes too, you don't need to follow recipes to the letter. Trust your instincts by testing a little of this or more of that as you taste the dish while you cook. That way, you'll get to make the dish uniquely your own.
Now, I have the satisfaction of hearing hubby say, "Wow, this tastes better than mom used to make!" Hah! Sweet victory! So don't give up trying, keep practicing and when you get a dish down pat, write it down in a notebook or on index cards that you file as your own. Pretty soon, you'll have your own collection of signature dishes. Good luck! I hope you find your cooking rhythm soon :)

I feel the same because I don't know that much.. I don't think there are specific guidelines that we can follow, I guess it's a matter of how we experiment with things in the kitchen. We also have to practice and practice more and also learn each uses of the ingredients so that we will be able to know if it would be good to have it more or less despite what is written in the recipe..
