allegory of the cave connection?

I think The Matrix the movie itself is an allusion to Plato's Allegory of the Cave. Does any one else think that this is a possibility?

It is quiet well possible, althought I don't like to say the Allegory of the Cave is by Plato, but rather by his master. I think Plato has deformed it in orther to take from it the idea of just a few "gold" people can see truth, which I think it is a bad idea, we are all able to see truth althought sometimes WE DO NOT WANT to see it, which was the idea of Socrates, that is why he made people think with his questions, to get them seeing the truth.
