Do you accept candy in lieu of change?

Have you accepted or do you still accept candy in lieu or in exchange for change? In the provinces, there are still quite a number of stores that give candy in exchange for, let's say, 50 cents or even more than that. Some people still accept it (probably because they don't want to argue anymore or something) Have you? Do you know of stores, groceries, marts that still do this anti-consumer thing?

Thanks for your response! Yeah, I guess it's okay especially if we know the owner of the store. However, there are big groceries or supermarts that still do this practice, which I totally don't understand.

yes, i have experienced this ever since i was in highschool the "tindera" would give us candy in lieu of change especially if the change was just 50 cents or below. its quite okay with me because the actual equivalent of the candy was 50 cents anyway.

I see nothing wrong with it so long as the cashier is sincere that there really are no coins left. There was a time once when the cashier no longer has any 50 centavos left to give me, but instead of giving me candy she instead opened a packet of 5 centavo coins, which I have no need for, thus a waste of money and utility.
But yeah, above 1 peso or when there are coins in the machine then this is very unethical to do.
