I like the idea of an email that you don't need to register into, however I think that I speak for everyone when I say that not only that it is not safe, the interface might be a bit problematic, how do you prevent revealing the passwords you usually get into your inbox?
And on another note, I really enjoy using gmail, it has a smooth and fast interface and it has a great spam filter built inside it.

I use yahoo email, and it seems like they do a pretty good job of filtering out the spam for me. If I get stuff that I think is spam and I don't want to open it, I just check the emails and then I flag them as being spam, and then they don't get delivered to my inbox anymore. It's worked out well for me so far.

In my experience, Yahoo! is the most efficient email address. I have found their spam filters pretty much work for me. Try spamming every message you get that resembles spam to train the filter to block things like it. Good luck.
