I just read an article about a young lady who is suing her college for not granting her a degree in Education and instead giving her a degree in English. The photo that was posted on MySpace was one of her drinking at a Halloween party in 2005 and the University Spooksman said that she was promoting underage drinking. She is 27 years old and the photo was 2 years ago. Is the University beeing too Politically Correct and over reacting to a person drinking who is of legal age?

That is shocking. I didn't realize a University would even consider doing such a thing. That poor woma was robbed of what she had earned and I hope her lawsuit rectifies the injustice!

I know from my school law courses that a diploma is considered a property right and can not be taken away with out due process. I hope she win her suit to show the PC crowd that there are limits.

I'd go with overreacting. Unless there were minors actually drinking with her in the photo, there's no way they can claim she is promoting anything. Or are teachers supposed to give up all claim to an actual life when they become a teacher? No drinking, no smoking, certainly not dating since that would mean*gasp* S-E-X! And lord knows the precious kiddies can't be exposed to that. Grown ups? Drink. She's a grown up. She can drink. I think this is insane, and just another step in the agenda to make children the number-one citizens in the US.

I would say the college is over reacting and really it is none of their business what she does on her own time. It seems that this world is getting pretty strange and everyday the do gooders make the world a little less tolerable with their stupid rules. I am not saying that anarchy is good but people should just mellow out a little and let people be people.
