Have you ever noticed how much violence there is in animation?

A few years back, someone knocked on my door and wanted to talk about violence on tv and in the news. But one thing I noticed throughout the years is that people over look the violence in cartoons and animated movies. There's more violence in them then in some blockbuster movies.
My 4 year old understands that when someone dies in a movie that it isn't funny and that they would be dead if this were real life, but what about Daffy Duck and Wylie Coyote for examples? Daffy gets all his feathers blown off by Elmer Fudd and lives, making the kids burst out in laughter. Wylie Coyote blows himself up with an Acme rocket and plunges to the bottom of a 300 ft cliff, and once again the kids laugh and laugh. Isn't this a bit confusing to our children.
Disney movies are full of murder, battles, sword fighting. "Robin Hood" is a great animated movie and when I was young girl I loved the romance affair between Matd Marian and Robin but my son focused solely on the sword fighting. Everything he could get a hold of then became a sword and he was wacking everyone. Not fun!
What's your thoughts on violence and animation?

This just keeps getting worse and worse afraid to say. It's almost like if we want to protect our kids to just not even turn the tv on at all but that's being a little to sheltered I thing and my kids like the tv so that will not work either.

my kids love the tv. I couldn't take it away from them either. My 4 year old can work the DVD player like a champ, plus she can give her older brother a run for his money on their PS2.
